LASOS LGK 7872ML05 and cyonics PSU

I just picked up a new small lasos multiline argon laser (LGK 7872 ML05) and was wondering about powering it. Most people I've talked to use a cyonics PSU (the big blue looking ones) to power this head, but I was wondering if it is a 'direct fit'. Will I need to change any wiring in the PSU or in the laser head or does the connector just screw right into the cyonics PSU and function? It looks like they use the same connectors, I'm just not sure if the pinout is the same.

Let me check the model numbers on my Lasos head... It fits directly into my cyonics PS.

I have a 7872-ML02 and a Cyonics 2101-155SLB... Their plugs match perfectly.

Awesome! I had heard a long time ago that they fit together perfectly but I didn't want to hook them up and risk damage if the pinout was different. Thanks!!

Oh one last thing, did you get the head and psu together as a functional set or did you already have the psu before the head? I just want to make double sure that the psu wasn't modified. Thanks again!

Mine came together as a set; fully functional out of the box.

Oh, and does anyone know what the MLXX designation means? Is it a power rating or is it maybe a manufacturing date or something? Mine is an ML05 and was manufactured in 2005, maybe it's just a coincidence.

Nope this is my only argon. Mine was made in 2004, so the 02 on mine is not the year it was made. Mine has 57mW max writen on the serial number label, but with this PSU it only goes to 36mW.

Are you using the pot on the front of the PSU for power adjustments? If you wire it for current control you can probably get much more than 36mW (probably a lot more than 57mW at 10A)

Thanks again for all the info. I guess I'll hook mine up when I get it and see what happens. I know the filament connections are the same, because they are the only two large pins on the connector. So as long as the anode goes to the same pin everything should work out ok. I cant imagine anything going horribly wrong (but we all know what assuming does!) I just bought this little head because I want a working glass-tube argon (i'm not sure if the actual tube is glass, but I'm 99.999% sure that the cathode end bell is glass). Mine keep breaking due to shipping errors, so I figure if I cant get a big one I'll settle for a little one for now... haha.

Yea, all I am doing is waiting a few minutes for it to warm up and then shorting a pair of pins on the PS based on the sellers instruction. I assume that is for some type of control. I turn the pot up to about 95% after placing the jumper on.

cyonics calls that a multiline 5 mw OR MULTILINE 50 Mw, depending on product line.

For example, the common slb-15 is a single line 15 mW blue. slg-15 is single line green.
Slv is single line violet.
