    Default Hmm, small cube enclosure?

I've just been to take a look at this
It certainly looks big enough inside (split level) for a single or possibly dual setup. I especially like the way it hinges open for access (see below) and all for £39.99

    Dimensions: 295(w) x 380(d) x245 (h) mm

Yea, that and those pictures don't portray reality I bet. It is probably smaller than it looks. and it needs some structural re-enforcment to hold lasers well. It is a nice design though.

I'm guessing you could cut a 1/4 aluminum plate or so to fit the top of that perfectly.

I think if you use all the time you would put into converting this but for a scratch build, you would end up with a similar but mechanically far superior case ...

I've never liked the idea of using computer cases, they're far to flimsy in my opinion

Too late now , i've picked one up yesterday. Looking at it, the upper shelf has a fan grill which at first glance looks to be near perfect candidate for the aperture.
Whilst the lower shelf (which is deeper) has the fan and in the end will house the PSU's.
As for strength, the chassis feels secure enough, although the black cover once removed is 'PC case' flimsy. Still, as it's only for a personal project i can justify the £39 if it goes pear shaped . I'll be securing two 8mm plates, one on each level with the ILDA connectors, DMX, power etc situated in the lower.
I do have a bullet proof laser visuals enclosure from a projector i bought back in 2003. It does feel and weigh like it was hewn from solid granite, but i really don't want to cannibalise it...at least not yet
