    considering eye doctors start getting useful effects around 200 mW of CW laser light for retinal surgery..... That may be a reasonable standard for non coherent light. You can make a lesion with a lot less. You can have photochemical bleaching with a lot less...

    Many big companies say damage can start at 15 mW. I've heard for years that the Spectra Physics and Coherent internal standards were 15 mW and up for start of permanent damage. Where the source of that number comes from has probably been long forgotten.

    Back in the day, I assumed that only PROFESSIONAL, RESPONSIBLE, PROPERLY TRAINED, SAFETY MINDED COMPANIES would master the technology. I tried to do it right.

    Now days ANY DOUSCHE BAG can get a vag burner. Follow this guys stellar career!

    Ok, for example, a 5 watt argon, 1 milliradian divergence, , NOHD of roughly 5500 feet. LFED, roughly 35,000 feet. Reach out and Touch Some One!

    It gets real fun real fast if your trying to do science. Because these guys are a government agency, they at least get the radar option. Light show guys DONT! Wouldnt want us mere mortals to know what is up there buzzing around at mach III. Have a good laugh at their attempts to build a decent radar under a few tens of thousands of dollars, plus showing the RADAR SAFETY CALCS!

    I worked out NOHD on most of my lasers. In the UK is you want to crowd scan, you need to prove it is safe to do so. NOHD is one of those figures required for the calculations.

    500mw DPSS
    2.5mm beam dia
    1.5mrad divergence
    NOHD = 377m

    ALC60X (100mW)
    2mm beam dia
    1 mrad divergence
    NOHD = 132m

    So theoretically 100mw at 1000m could be eye safe. However the distraction to a pilot on final approach, could quite literally be catestrophic.

    In the UK, we are required to give the CAA 28 days notice for outdoor shows. Funnily enough, they have never said no to me. Including giving permission to use lasers and search lights within 1 mile of an international airport (although there were a couple of conditions imposed).

    Look at all of his videos- not only does he endanger himself, but he endangers his friends, his wife & his (or someone elses) CHILDREN. This is a guy that I actually wish he would touch the wrong wire and then we can read about him in USA TODAY instead of the LV installation. Unfortunately, it will not be him that gets injured it will be his kids (did you note the baby high chair in his living room?) In LV LFI & Myself did everything in our power at the time to make it right.

    Damn hard to guess looks like he is doing EVERYTHING wrong.

    sounds like abuut 100pps, it is flashlamp pumped, not at focus, spurious specular reflections everywhere, no stable mount- crap he is doing everything wrong...but he got green
