    Default Colorbalance. Help!

    Hi laserenthousiasts!

    I,m thinking of buying a 400mw of red from kvant or medialas.
    Also 2 maxyz modules could do. Can some one give me some advice what the green should be? I thought 700 mw is ok but maybe thats to high.

    Thanks!

    What wavelength? It is important to know because it has a large impact on how much you need of each.

    Here is a table I put together on what you need to get a good white balance. While you're only looking at green and red so far, it is still useful, as mixing red and green in the proportions listed (at 473 nm) will give you a nice yellow.

    Default colorbalance help!

    Sorry tocket i forgot to mention it.

    The wave length of the modules is 642 nm i think. medialas has one from 700mw and 400mw but i think i,m going for the 400mw.
    Frank gave me a good offer so i want to choose between 500 and 700 mw
    of green at 532nm.

    so 532nm/500mw or 700mw=.......642nm red.

    Blue is a futurebuy for me because i can,t afford it right now

    500 = 750 - 1000 mW 642
    700 = 1000 - 1500 mW 642

    for proper 'white'

    You will get away with 500mW 532 and 700mW 642 though
    It will be a nice yellow

    I ran the numbers for you. Here are roughly what colors you'll get with different mixtures. Yellow is generally considered as light in the 570-580 nm region of the spectrum, so I marked the 575 nm point on the locus (Coherent's yellow OPSL is 577 nm). It seems 1:2.5 is the best ratio, but 1:2 will also give a good yellow.

    That means you need 1W of 642 to 0.5W of 532. Quite a lot! Keep in mind losses in the projector are not taken into consideration.

    Because most dichros got about 10% pass troug loss, you should also take green minimal 10% higher in power.

    Also green is also lowest in price, so 700mW 642 and 500mw of 532 is a good start i think.
