Like it is now, your module will not cool the diode very effeciently.
The only thing you have now is great mass, this means the temperature will rise very slowly, but It will also decrease very slowly.
The thing you want for good cooling is a smaller mass, but a very large surface area. This larger surface area can be acheived through mounting your smaller mount to a heatsink, or a nice cool base plate. (you will have to electrically isolate your mount from the base plate, as the case of most red laser diodes is connected to the cathode)
Also a problem I see with your current drawing is the long tube. The beam will have to be perfectly parallel with the axis of the tube not to hit the wall of the tube.
