HA! You call that big? You obviously haven't seen Platinum's CVL.

Nice laser but... That price is way too high for the curve. (set by BMI)

Unfortunately I thought BMI was a bit steep on what I wanted. I told them I would buy every mm-1 they had. They showed me a real crappy clone that they wanted 30 dollars ea for. I said no thanks I'll build my own. Thanks for the lead anyway evil300. They were very responsive with photos just the price was a bit steep for surplus stuff IMHO.

Sorry to hear that. For some reason they want a mint for most stuff and pennies for other stuff. I really think they don't have the faintest clue what most of the equipment they have even does or what it's really worth.

I looked all over newport site and couldnt find a mm-1. could you send me the link for it? I actually thought they stopped selling them. They were $45.00 back when we were buying a hundred or so a year, so we switched to daedal, which i dont like very much, they are cheaper but the small shaft makes them a tad sloppy IMHO (no offense to daedal on PL) And it is a well known fact, if you have a small shaft it can get a bit sloppy

I dont think a CVL can be CW just based on how they work. I know they can be pulsed very fast with a thyratron (In the kHz range I think) but I dont think CW is possible.... I could be very wrong, but I think they need one pulse of electricity to separate the copper from the Cl or Br and then another pulse just after that to pump the copper to the upper energy state to lase. I could be wrong but this is how I've always understood them to work.
