The poly bags are adequate and in my opinion better because they don't carry the non unformity issues of foam (pockets of air in any medium other than air can lead to dielectric effects)

agreed! with ESD foam on the bare leads
It was more regarding if ndrew was doing a simple test,,
like the guys who sell those high output Luxeon LED's
holy crap drama!!
lasernerd...
im a bit like you in some ways. when i feel like i got the raw end of the stick, i want IMMEDIATE satisfaction! HOWEVER- i think we *ALL* can agree that in reality, that is NEVER really possible.
the original PM you sent to andrew...how long did you wait for a response? a day? a week? a month? was it snotty at all? was it sarcastic at all? HONESTLY!!??!?!?
I dont know you nor andrew from a hole in the wall. but just from the way this thread has gone, it seems like you (lasernerd) could have handled it a little more "positively."
it seems to me if you sent him a message sayin, "dude...im really sorry but i got your order and one of the diodes isnt working."
i would probably guess (and i may be wrong) but i think that if the PM or email or whatever was *NICE* he prob woulda sent you a new one.
if i ever got a sarcastic or rude or derogatory PM, email, IM, letter, phone call or anything, i would put it off also and automatically be defensive.
i try to pride my business on my customer service. but ESPECIALLY in this field of lasers, you can be the biggest, baddest, laser guru in the world...SHIT happens! i have had my share of defective sales...and i never ONCE denied support of it!!
ill tell ya one thing...if i EVER had a customer react in a negative, demeaning or otherwise disrespectful way, i would make it my point to not make any effort toward solving the problem. there is a right way to do things and a wrong way to do things.
i hope you and andrew cooled down a little and decided to work this all out. it sucks seeing forum memebrs at each others throat. ESPECIALLY over a measly $14

Probably what could have prevented this drama is to just buy them unharvested. Probably safer that way. I've probably bought about 20 diodes (blu-ray and open can)from ndrew, all unharvested. I figure it's safer that way, and harvesting the diode is very easy, I've even found an easy trick for pressing them into those aixiz modules. I've just received a bunch of diodes in today from ndrew (thanks!)but will probably hold off on harvesting them until I can get some of those lasorbs!
