I personally think the FB3 is significantly better, for one, it has DMX on it, you can store many shows on it, you can integrate it into your projector and connect with USB, it's smaller, and it comes with really amazing software for pretty much the price.

    sounded very good!.
    but what exactly is DMX?

I think it`s wrong to Compare FB3 against Mamba !
Because FB3 don't have the ability to make Music Show synced with laser-show (with the software that follow)

But if you should have a Pango software that can do the same as Mamba.
    You need LD2000 !
And then you need to use allot more $$$ compared to mamba..

I'm Pangoed... I have the LD2000 and can very easily recommend it... Excellent product, excellent support, and IMO the best out there...

This is just my opinion though.

On a side note, that is an excellent build you have there

    DMX stands for Digital Multiplex.

DMX512-A is the standard serial communications protocol for use in stage lighting.

So the FB3 having a DMX connector means it can be controlled via a lighting desk or software. Which will make it much easier to sync with the rest of the lighting system that is in use.
Also allows a long cable run to the FB3, far greater than you could relistically acheive with an ILDA cable.

I am pretty clued up on all things DMX if anyone needs more information.

Oh, and while I am here, the build is looking very nice.

    Hi.. looks good.

Have you thought of 640 for red....

Most seem made in Europe.. you get good brightness and a good colour red.
Its also a balance between the nice "thin" beam of the 660nm jobs and the usually super "fat" beam of the 635nm.
Of course dollars come into it.
    660 beam about 3mm diameter
640 beam about 4.5mm diameter (multi beam in higher powers)
    635 beam about 5-8mm diameter

Makers of these are like..Kvant, Arctos, HB-Laser etc. There are rumours that Bridge at Laser Wave has something on the way. His Chinese units tend to be above average. I have used CNI in green, Blue etc.. and Laser Wave in green .
I have the new Kvant 640 red really bright at 950mw.. however these multi beam jobs are a bit like an "association" of beams doing there thing to make a dot (more like a "splat" really) but there seems no easy way to get red "up there". (other than dollars and many beams)

Re software... well of course I would say Pangolin... but if your serious look at the LD200 series of boards. (at a cost of course but not too bad really IF thats the type of performance you need).. Never heard anyone complain yet.

    Cheers

Isn't that what Live Quick / Pro do?

Pro syncs to beats and takes cues from it.

LivePro CAN sync to beats but it does not have to - it can cue to many other triggers. I think what they are refering to is the ability to authour a complete choreographed show set to a music time line. Mamba can do this as can Showtime as part of LD or LD2000 (AScan many more applications). You cant set livequick or LivePro to play a track and play exactly the same cues over and over. They are really for different show enviroments/applications.

Ok thats very true but the suggestion was that LiveQuick and LivePro could do this - and they can't!
