    1- I dont think the 1 Ohm SMD can handle the power. Put one that can hold at least 1/2W.

    I don't see why not.
    Just for 3 Amps max. But 80 Volts.
    I compare data sheets very different, but for this application I think work just fine.

    I forgot to tell you. (you may be already now it but),
    The Emitter and the Base are backwards than the BD437 so flip it.

    not worried about that since I am going to make it on perf board probably...

    you can get 100 of them here for $13 or 0.13/ea shipped

    ask them if they can use a small flat rate box... a USPS flat rate box to greece should be like $14... although there is the added hassle of paperwork so that might be why the extra charge
