Have seen LED pars used very effectively to illuminate walls/corners. That would go better than blasting the crowd while trying to maintain a lasers effectiveness.

Also look into LED bar lighting.. you can do some very cool stuff. They will be my first purchase. Will look great behind a dj booth or to the sides if there is a projector screen in there.

Oliver and insanity... some awesome pics there guys!!! Cool stuff at both places doing different things and different production sizes. Love it!

i like seeing different setups too. the difference in the two is vast but they both have something about them that is nice.
obviously barn rave to me is special but i wanna build up to a show like that some day. if i carry on buying the way i am at the moment it will be sooner than i think. i like doing smaller events though for the atmosphere. large scale stuff loses some of the magic.
when we do barn rave it feels like we have acheived something but if we were doing larger stuff more and more gets sub contracted to other companies and then all you are is an event manager.
i like organising the whole shibang. lights lasers sponsors (red bull) the lot.

cheers for the kind remarks mate

I can't take any credit for that lighshow. It was Global Gathering and the Multimedia show belongs to Daft Punk, we did the lasershow on the following night..

Just the most amazing thing I have seen aside from lasers of course

Barn Rave looks great reminds me of the good old days in '89.... Aceeed

yes thats the feel were going for with it.
dont get me wrong i love large scale lighting shows but it loses some of the feel. im planning a big laser show soon but i still think barn rave will have a better vibe about it.
its similar to going to see a band at a stadium gig or at a 1000 seater theatre. id choose the smaller place any day. its got more atmosphere i feel.

got any pics of the laser show mate?

I just want to meet the blonde on the left of the girls group picture, pretty hot!

That looks like some set up you made their Ollie. All looks very expensive for the size of the event. Do I take it this is your own private pet project and thus everyone's working for free? If not, someone has very deep pockets because with all those workers and lights that set up can't be cheap to hire!

    Gorgeous lasers Insanity.

i agree those lasers look amazing.

yes its a private thing mate. we set it up every year and it started with about 100 people getting together and having a party. now its become an event and this year were expanding to about 2000 people hopefully. im busy buying more and more lighting. iv spent about £10000 on lighting equipment and lasers and am trying to build up enough stuff to do these events all the time.
we all do it cause we love doing it but we all take a cut of the profits of the event. took me 3 days to set my lighting up.
didnt have any LED stuff though so i may invest in some this year.
im buying more lasers first and 4 16 channel yoke lights.

    im a serial spender

Damn, Ollie (oliverst14@hotmail.com), you have some great stuff there! If I see this it remembers me I have to upgrade my equipment as soon as my budget allows it (that would be after I built an RGB, of course).
I have a simple RGB LED-spot at home hanging above the bar. It is now programmed to give a continuous white light when set to on, but I can change this. That white is not a real white, it is in fact some sort of blue. The colourbalance sucks really, and it costed more than enough to expect some quality! It can be controlled with DMX and Freestyler has a great function to control RGB-units. So you could make 255³ colours, as any laserfreak here should know.
Further I don't have much experience with LED lighting. The only thing I could say about it is to not use it with mirror balls. I once saw the local lighting company use a bright moving LED-wash to shine on their mirror balls, while doing a colour fade. Instead of all the colours, you only saw three separate beams in red, green and blue. But it was surely bright! The moving washes had 33 high-powered one watt LEDs! And think you could be blinded with one LED of 1 watt. They surely set the whole dance floor full of colours.

And yes, Ollie, I know what it means to be a serial spender...

Unless RGB Led fixtures have white LEDs as well you will never get a true white with them, they will always have that blue tinge.

Using a wash light to shine on a mirrorball is not the best of things to use unless you can control the projection angle, I have 4 x GLP Ypoc Colour washs and that can have the projection angle from 8 degrees upto 22 degrees.

I would not use an LED fixture on a mirrorball for the reason you have stated, but it could create an interesting effect, unless it is one of the new "spot-light" LED fixtures that are now coming onto the market, I might give them a go to see how it looked.

Yes the newer LEDs coming out 1w and 3w are very bright but they no where near match that of proper Par Cans per pound/dollar/euro spent. For example a PAR Can with 183 5mm (.5w) LEDs gives about 1500 lumens, a PAR Can with 180 10mm (1w) LEDs is about 3500 lumens and a proper PAR 64 (500w) gives about about 6500 lumens.
