    Default Fb3/La freak package questions

Aloha all, this is my first post here, so any help would be great and if im posting incorrectly please feel free to berate me

I have 3 lasers 300 mw one is green the others rgy (not shure of the rgy indiv beam mw) all are ilda and dmx with 30 k scanners (or so im told) the brand is WASA I also have a look solutions hazer (unique2),im just geting into the joy of lasers, but the dmx software im using (showexpress) is very limited so I was looking into the best $500 or so solution, and from reading posts it seems to be the fb3/la freak pack, so im wondering if this is a good place to start ,if it still is being sold and if its user friendly enough to not drive me to madness in learning it any help or comments would be greatly appreciated

    Thumbs up

I'm pretty sure that Pangolin are still flogging FB3's.
Your mate Google would have told you that.

The learning curve may be steepish but it will be matched by the satisfaction curve.

Smile Greetings to a new member!

    Welcome to PhotonLexicon, Corporall Clegg!

The FB3 is indeed a great controller for the money. You get a good bundle of software and a rock-solid controller, all for a very reasonable price. You also get Pangolin's world-class customer service. Plus, there are several FB3 users here in the forums. So if you have questions, I'm sure you'll find your answers here.

Please fill out your profile information so we know where you are located. We have two Laser Enthusiast's Meetings coming up in the next several weeks - one in the UK and one in Florida. If you are anywhere close to these two events, I strongly suggest that you attend. You'll get a chance to see the FB3 (along with a lot of other software and controllers), so you can see for yourself what it can do for you. (See the "Meet and Greet" subforum for more details.)

Also, something else to consider: with 3 lasers, you may want to have two controllers. The standard setup is to have the center laser on it's own controller and the two projectors to the sides connected to a second controller. You can invert the X signal going to one of the two side projectors so they mirror each other's movements horizontally. That makes for a nice effect. I'm sure you'll see this demo'd at both LEM's next month. Of course, its more expensive, but I'm sure you've already realized that this is an expensive hobby!

LiveQUICK is the software that comes on the install disk for the FB3:

Draw3D, Abstraction, and ShowRider are the the free LAStudio applications that can be downloaded from Pangolin for the FB3:

LivePRO is the kick-ass live performance package that can be purchased separately - check with Pangolin using their online contact form to check pricing for the FB3 version:

For the price, you can't go wrong with the FB3!!

Welcome to PL! just got here myself

I'm also a proud owner of a FB3! I've tons of joy just using showrider.. I use an USB extender so I;m able to actually enjoy my own live action DMX is just to slow.. can't wait to get my hands on LivePro. I'm also itching to get a another FB3 for a second projector..

One problem I ran into though.. My scanners run on symmetrical input, while the FB3 only puts out single ended X/Y signals.. I had to crank the signal up using a 741, to achieve full angle.. I read somewhere there is now an option available to create symmetrical X/Y outputs on a FB3.

You should contact Pangolin directly if you want to know more about the FB3 evaluation kit.

    Have fun!!

    Hi CP Clegg
I have to ask - have you a wooden leg?

I think there should be info on the Pango site about the eval. package for FB3 but if you want it with the 'hobby' licence you need to drop Pangolin (Bill Benner) a PM or email and specifically ask for it - so I seem to remember.

Good luck the FB3 is a cool little baby!

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.
