Hey Kats -

I have a small presentation request. Could we have a discussion on the various safety devices needed to be installed in a projector for a varience? This is what you need, and this is how it looks, and these are the components to buy...

I think I can handle this... In fact, I'll bring various-samples of actual components, and then - put them all together as a 'CDRH-pleasing, projector-funkifying grab-bag' as another 'door-prize' - how's that sound? Yeah, not much of a 'prize' to offer-up, but useful, at-least... and I might throw a He-Ne in there, or somethin', just 'fer kicks...

'Kit' will (at-least) include:

1 - AC 'IEC' recept. w/ integrated 'fusebox'
1 - AC 'rocker' sw, w/ 'on' lamp
1 - Lucas-Ledex 'beam-shutter'
1 - Opto-22 solid-state relay (for shutter)
1 - Interlock switch
3 - 24V DC LED-Lamps (red, green, orange)
1 - Non-removable-when-on Key Sw / keys
??? anything else 'cool' I find laying around I can toss-in... (no, sorry, I can't 'toss-in' a 3W green!

...and - most importantly - I should have at LEAST one bottle of Patrón, to 'donate'... (Hey, Adam - tell Hayden that - that'll get 'im to come up! ...or actually, maybe we shoudn't tell him...I mean, I'd like at least one shot!...

Cool? (and yes, I will request two doubles or queen-beds...

What with buying several new laser heads (Kvant red and Arctos blue) I think to go to the States again would have divorce written all over it.

Would have loved to be there... maybe next year if the world's economy doesn't totally collapse that is.

Sure would be great to see you at one of these events again, but I understand how it is. (Heck, at least you managed to fly half-way around the world at least once. I've yet to manage such a feat!)

If you do decide to come back though, consider attending SELEM... It's 2 days of laser fun instead of only 1!

I'm glad the pointer is still working for you. It wasn't much, but there just had to be a prize awarded for traveling 7000 miles just to hang out with a bunch of geeks. (For the record, I still have the hat and the pin, BTW!)

Update again: We *might* have another special guest. Doug McCullogh (founder of AVI) has replied, and he is interested in attending. However, he may have a schedule conflict. Won't know for sure for another week or so.

Also, a brand new member from Raleigh, NC is talking about making the trip just for the event. Patrick Murphy fielded an E-mail from this person, and passed it along to me with the hopes that they'd be able to make it to FLEM. So far it looks like a go! (Introductions to follow once they get signed up here on PL.)

Right now I think we're looking at around 20 people. Maybe a few more than that even. So this is going to be a slightly larger event than I had originally expected. (Cool!) Probably looking at a minimum of 7 RGB rigs, plus 2 high-power greens. Maybe a few other projectors that I've forgotten about in addition to that. (Just remembered we'll have at least one RYG there too...) So this is going to be more like SELEM in terms of the number of projectors. (*very* cool!)

Jon: Thanks for the offer of the "projector grab-bag" items as a door prize! I'm sure whomever wins it will be able to put it to good use.

Also - final reminder that TODAY is the deadline for getting the special room rate at the Holiday Inn Express. After today, the rooms are $110 and up, instead of the group rate of $89. (You can always cancel your room without penalty so long as you do so within 24 hours of your arrival time, so you might want to book it anyway even if you unsure if you can make it or not.)

I remember to book my room yesterday. Arriving friday, leaving sunday. I only live about 2 hours away, but just didn't want to do any driving at night, since it's all back roads to Tavares for me. If anyone's interested, I don't mind splitting the cost of a room, I booked a double. Currently, I'm going to split it with someone, but the chance of them making it is low. So if he doesn't make it, it's available!

If this does not work (cause your friend does show) then FYI, to all - I'll most-likely have an empty double... It does not seem-likely that Marc (Gottaluvlasers) will be coming down, and the other DSLI-tech flies-back to NY, to go-on to other work, on Fri (20th...) Soooo, let's KIT, cool?
