Any chance you could have a word with our government over here

As you're probably aware, our government *stole* our guns from the law abiding citizens who held them legally. The only people who have guns over here now are the criminals. Has our gun crime gone down?????... No, it's accelerated exponentially!

BTW sorry, for hijacking the thread )

I did not realize that - when and how did it happen, did everyone have to turn in their guns? Did they go door to door and confiscate them? - Tim

It was a few years ago now, can't exactly remember when. However, I used to have a factory 'blueprint' S&W .357 magnum and a FAS .22 LR. Both of which had to be 'turned in' under a firearms 'amnesty'. These guns were held legally on a firearms certificate and at the time I was real big into target shooting. Yes. I got compensation, but that isn't really the point.

There is a lot of background as to why the government took the decision to disarm the public, but basically it was a knee jerk reaction to a couple of horrendous incidents where a madman let fire and killed some innocent people (two entirely seperate incidents), very very sad indeed , and I am very sympathetic towards those families and their loved ones, I can also understand why they called for guns to be banned.

Worst of it was the people who carried out these killings were psychologically deranged and if the police had done their job properly and checked out these people's backgrounds, they would never have had a licence to hold the guns in the first place.

Having said all that I do believe that our Government were just waiting for a chance to disarm the general population and get the guns destroyed, but as i've said previously, the only people who now have guns are the criminals

I know you guys in the States are always coming under pressure from the anti-gun lobby, but the NRA is very strong. However, I believe Mr Obama is anti-gun, so watch out guys, they're coming for you

Damn... I'm still thread hijacking.... sorry guys )

I'm pretty sure you would be able to claim a lot of these costs back as a tax deduction as a cost of doing business. In Oz you can claim subscriptions, membership fees, travel and accommodation costs etc (even meals while away).

So in my mind if you have even if you have done a few shows for small amounts of money you should still legitimately be able to try and claim these cost as part of your cost of development.

For us in OZ the prospect of trip the Europe or the USA is yet another impediment cost to add to the whole equation.

    Default ILDA Discounts policy

Hi all, I discussed the discount policy with the ILDA Board of Directors. The Board thought that any lower price for the conferences should be extended to ILDA members only; however, ILDA will continue to support PL members who wish to join by extending a 15% discount for ILDA membership at any LEM meeting you attend in person.
