You actually bring up a very good point and think you hit the nail on the head. I usually don't get involved in these squabblings because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. However, I do think their is a difference in that some folks are more interested in the software behind the scenes than they are about the photons. Theirs nothing wrong with that but I'm way more interested in the photons, that's for sure.I could care less about the software as long as it's easy to use and does what I want. That's my opinion.
There's nothing wrong with thinking outside of the box Keeperx.
The problem is some past members felt the need to promote what appeared to be an anti globalisation campaign against mainstream laser software and associated patents through personal digs at those who were responsible for developing the software. I think someone likened it to some of the Linux supporters who are known to be anti Microsoft, which is probably a good analogy. Was this jealousy? Who knows. However, it was their treatment of other members that was the problem not their ideas. Most of us are open to ideas as most of us want to learn. However, constant personal digs makes an unpleasant environment for everyone hence the problem.
Ultimately, I agree with heroic. I don't care how I get the photons in the air as long as I get them there. Ideas to make that happen better are welcome whether through free software or commercial developments.
