I have seen attempts to retrofit projectors using a cheaper MH HQI bulb these bulbs are commonly used in aquarium lighting and are available in many color temperatures. The big deal about these is that they do not have ANY UV filter, my pendant light has a large UV filter and 10000K color temperature, but you would want a 6500K I believe. I forgot to say, watch the arc size of the lamp.
