Cool Industrial CO2 and YAG 'Cleanout-Bonanza'!

    Hey Kats -

So, my very-cool 'laser-neighbor' across the hall, at our shop in NY, informed me that - like everybody else - in-order to 'tighten the belt / cut-costs' a bit, he is consolidating shop space / rooms, and would therefore, like-to 'liquidate' any and/or all of the following lasers / peripherals...

Now, I would-be-inclined to think that PL 'is-not exactly the best-place' to list this stuff (and, in-fact, he will-be listing this stuff via the 'normal-channels' (industrial laser-surplus sites, etc..) But after seeing one of my new 'personal-heros', Platinum, trek-across the ENTIRE COUNTRY, risking life, limb, and sanity to get a honking-giant CV-laser, (which, arguably, is more-or-less an 'industrial-laser'...) there juuust-might be a few of these items that 'stimulate' some interest, here... (ie 50mW HeNe..)

Also, I will-say #1, I DO NOT PERSONALLY STAND-TO GAIN IN ANY WAY, by listing this stuff - NO 'commision', etc - this is just a flavor for my 'laser-bud' across the hall (though I did tell-him that IF any of this stuff should HAPPEN-to sell, here, if he 'by-chance' left-one of the O-scopes in front of our door, as 'thanks' - I mean, accidentally well, I would probably-not 'throw it out'... (kidding)...

..and #2, YES, I KNOW - PIX - WHEN he sends them to-me, THEN I will post them, OR, actually - better-yet, (since this is a LOT of pix, and I am really buried in work this week) any serious 'requesters' / interested-parties, simply PM-me a request, and I will email you a zip-file' with all the CO2s and YAGs and etc-pix, you can handle...

Lastly, #3, for any potentially-interested 'FLEM-ers'- IF you see-something you just 'gotta have' and/or you know someone who does (ie Granny is finally-ready to open her marking-shop and just-needs a CO2... ) I will be happy-to bring the item (as-long as it fits) on our truck, for the trek-down on 3/17-18... payment-arrangements / etc MUST-be directly-between you and seller (Wayne) - I am ONLY offering to let your 'goodies hitch a-ride', NOT 'facilitate' sales / money-laundering, etc

    Cool? Cool...
...Then here's the stuff, already :

COMMENT - before you go thinking, 'ooh, laser show-item!...' you should-know that, yes, this is Green, but this laser is about 6' long and about 4-500 lbs, with a giant stand / table - it's really a marking laser, not-exactly for 'club-use' - just fyi... )

Out of curiousity, would any of these be appropriate for small-scale cnc laser cutting of metal?

    Thanks,

    Default UPDATE

    Hi Felix -

    Thanks,
Wayne tells-me that 'yes', any of the YAG's *can* cut metal BUT, how 'successfully' depends on how thick and what type - light aluminums, steels, etc... He will-provide-me with a 'list' tomorrow with 'what-CO2 would be-good-for-what', etc - will-post, then...

OK - UPDATE: Wayne told me today that he is adding a few-more items to the list, that may-be of interest...

    - Helium-Cadmium - no-idea yet of status (last-known working, but he will test-tonight, and I will report)... I believe 50mW+ was the rated-output; will-verify...

    - a Giant, extremely-powerful Nd:GLASS-laser (as-in glass IS the lasing-medium..) that I am told will punch-holes thru VERY-thick metal (bread-board-maker, anyone?? ), details to-come...

    - Attention: Steve mixedgas - a pump-down-station, with 100 Torr (!!) capacity, practically brand-new - I am told could-be had
    for a 'song', (compared-to the $36K 'MSRP' )...

    - A few other goodies, details to-come...

Will now answer the plethora of PMs...
    ciao

    Just an FYI...

CO2 (10.6 microns) isn't good for metals unless you have at least a few hundred watts.
Nd-Yag (1.06 microns) is good for metals.

CO2 works great for non-metals like paper, plastic, wood, leather, etc.

Correct! Thanks for the 'catch' - wasn't paying attention to what I was typing ...'friends don't let friends type drunk'...

Felix n Marc - I'll post his pix, and he tells me he will have a PDF, with more details on everything, 'desired'-price, and his Contact info...

Then ya'll can 'duke it out' with Wayne, and if any one who will be at FLEM (or a buddy of yours is going and can drive the good to-you later, etc) wants any of the stuff brought-down, once Wayne tells me you've paid for XYZ, etc, again, I'll be-happy to oblige ...

Any non-FLEMmers can-just work-out shipping arrangements, directly with Wayne...

But yeah, the O-scopes are choice. 'Old-skool', but we here @ PL LIKE 'old skool', don't we?! And one extra function-generator, too..

My scope is so old skool, it has valves (tubes) inside.
Got is from a college sale 20 years ago and its still going strong. May be a bit out of cal, but is plenty good enough for what I want.

He Cd sounds appealing (always wanted one), but I reckon the postage to here will be a bitch.

Does he have any single phase arc lamp supplies?

I need to get my 3.5 watt green yag running and start making some money.
