    Default Big Green

I just took delivery of a Spectra Physics Millennia Vi. Rated 5W, should be doing closer to 7W. Even more impressive than the 40W Laserscope because it runs on 110V and is CW, not Q-switched *and* the beam is <2mm with 0.5mrad divergence.

    Yes, I will post pictures.

Sorry, got to toss out a chuckle here.....

My new Harro bmx bike just came and it is so cool, and it is almost as fast as those lear jets people are selling.

Damn thing takes 30 minutes to get the LBO up to temperature. Apparently the super long LBO crystals are prone to cracking under thermal shock so they warm it up real slow and gentle. Here it is all warm and happy and doing 5.0W

The head is tiny and is pumped by 2 20W, fiber coupled diodes. It has *optional* water cooling for the vanadate block which is only necessary for super stable operation, i.e. when used to pump a Ti:Sapphire laser. I got a little thermotek chiller with it, but it's not rigged up in the picture. The power supply is huge and actually has a small refrigerator inside to keep the pump diodes at the right temperature. More modern systems use TECs.

That head is really small! I am guessing that it is like 14" x 7" or something?

The beam is amazing, 2mm 0.5mRad!? WOW!
