Il start by saying this was originally andys 10k ILDA scanner, that I bought from him a while back. I am only using the DMX for this build but I plan to make a 30k ILDA RGV (Maybe RGB) in a few months time.
I bought it before Christmas and have had the drawings for the layout all sorted for some time now but have only just gotten around to finding a day I can use the pillar drill at work to actually mount the components.
Here's the layout anyway, its being placed into a small 279x190x89 enclosure with all components mounted on an aluminium plate that will be bolted down inside the enclosure.
Im not sure about the 10mm space around the outside for the bolts seeing as that only gives me 5mm to bolt it down, although the plate is pretty strong so it might be ok.
*Old layout in picture, the new layout is above*
Going inside the scanner is a rather over powered 50mW module from DragonLasers. I don't actually have a power meter so I don't know exactly how much its putting out but it can light matches from 1 meter away.
Cooling the thing is a bit baffling now because I don't know how I should do it to maximize cooling. I havent included the front and back layout drawing because I dont actually have the enclosure yet but there is a big gap between the PSU and DMX board (drawing it so scale). The DMX board is being mounted 1cm up from the aluminium plate which leaves around 75mm space there with 1cm between the board and the back of the enclosure.
I don't know where I should put the fans, the logical place would be to put it where the gap is but don't I need two fans? One to suck air in and one to blow it back out again? Should I put one behind the AMP in the 1cm gap? I really am clueless about this part.
