Did you forget to defeat the PMPI and the SFAYSYP? If so; that would explain your findings.

Not disabling the Power Meter Protection Interlock or the So F**kin' Amazing You'll Shit Your Pants system, can cause unpredictable readings with Laserworld kit.

    Heya Forum members

Sorry about the double posting but i thought this would be good for future refference for potential laserworld customers.

I recently purchased some products off e-bay from Laserworld (A 300mW green diode and a laserworld show editor dongle and show, the reasons where:

    1) Price. The specifications they quoted verses the cost made them very cost effective when compared to their competition like Kvant.

    2) Switzerland: This country has a very reputation in New Zealand, i've never heard of any negtive comment about the people of Switzerland or an dealings with companys from Switzerland.

    3) PayPal: This made it easy to pay them, unlike Telegraphic transfers where it take ages, the process here is slow and expensive, rather than just a couple of clicks on the internet.

Both the dongle and 300mW green failed at the same time between 9-10 months from purchase.

I was'nt sure what the warrenty situation was so i consulted their web site and checked there "general term and conditions"
    http://www.laserworld.com/uploads/me...1-01-09_en.pdf

    § 7 Limited Warranty

    (1) For the case of delivered goods which are defective, consumer has the legal regulations as far as not marked differently in the following terms.

    (2) Used goods have a warranty of one year to end-customers. This does not apply to merchants and firms.
    (3) The customer is a merchant in terms of § 377 HGB, he/she has a warranty of one year on new goods.

It seemed clear to me reading their terms that 'new goods' had a warrenty of 1 year.
So both the dongle and the diode where returned to their service center in Germany.

After waiting for over a week i sent an e-mail to info@laserworld.com to enquire as to the status of my warrenty claim.

    Hello Laserworld

I recently returned some items (300mW green and a laserworld show editor dongle) under warrenty.

    Custimer Number: 094681
    Involice Number : 016795

I hopeing i'd have them back in time for this weekend.

If this is not posible could you please inform me so i can make other arrangements reguarding shows i'm using them for this weekend.

    Cheers

    Robert
    I received this reply to

    Dear Robert,

many thanks for your email. We recived your two items this week.
The Green-300 has no warranty, because it is too old. We only make a free trading repair the first 3 month, because diodes are light sources and has no warranty.
We can make you a special price for the Green-300 - I can offer you a new one for 150 Euro excl. VAT!

Also our technican had a look at the USB Interface and say to me it is also no warranty claim, because this looks like your fault. You damaged it.
So we also can make you a special offer for 150 Euro excl. VAT!

If you want to pay this, we can send out tomorrow with UPS, it could arrive just in time, but I can not promise, because UPS has a normal delivery time of 3-6 days.

So please let me know what we should do now.

For any further questions feel free to contact me again.

With best regards / mit freundlichen Gruessen,

I today replyed to their e-mail
    Dear Jennifer Sonnemann

Thank you for your promt reply.

I have examined the warrent on your web site closely and at no point does it state there is a 3 month warrenty on "light sources"
may i draw your attention to the warrenty listed on your site at http://www.laserworld.com/uploads/media/Laserworld-AGB-01-01-09_en.pdf

    under the limited warrenty

    7 Limited Warranty

    (1) For the case of delivered goods which are defective, consumer has the legal regulations as far as not marked differently in the following terms.

    (2) Used goods have a warranty of one year to end-customers. This does not apply to merchants and firms.
    (3) The customer is a merchant in terms of § 377 HGB, he/she has a warranty of one year on new goods.

Clearly it states there is a warrenty of one year, at no point what so ever does it mention "light sources" have a 3 month warrenty.

It states there is a 1 year warrenty on goods. I'm not sure where you get "3 months" from?
    Could you please explain this.

I maintain i have never mis-used or damaged the dongle, I would like you to return it so i can have an indepedant expert examine it.
As I don't belive the problem is my fault, this problem has exsisted since new but only now deterated to the point it is now.

With best regards / mit freundlichen Gruessen,

    Robert
I'm interested to hear what forum members think.

    Am i being unresonable?

Is it resonable for them refuse my claim?

What would you do in my position?

    Cheers

You've never tried to live in the damned country.

It is not a shiny, happy place.

I think you got hosed... but this is par for the LaserWorld course and to be expected. Feel lucky it was only a green module and controller software; several here have purchased multiple Watt projectors that have been crap and they didn't even get to enjoy them as much as you have yours.

    Heya allthatwhichis

Man, as soon as i read your comments the metaphor that came to mind was for someone who fell to there death and saying at least they had some glide time before being reduced to a plup.

I hate to break it to you man, and I know it's certainly no consolation, but there are 15.75 pages of repeated bad experiences with Laserworld. I'm very glad that I saw this thread awhile back, and it should serve as a warning to others. I'm not sure what more you could possibly need to see to get an idea of just who you're dealing with. I don't think there are very many (if any) members of this forum that are surprised to hear your story and don't already know the outcome. I very much hope that things work out well for you, but based on the number of complaints I've seen in such a short time I can't say that I believe Laserworld will do right. You've got to know that when you're the only person on your side of the fence, you might need to reexamine your position. Just my two cents.

    Heya Lorenzo

Have you seen anywhere where they actually say it's 3 months for diodes in their warrenty or web site, as i ca'nt find this figure anywhere. I'm just curious. I'd hate to think the only way you find this out is by ask them to repair one.

The only figure i can find is that the expect life of the diode is approx. 5000 hours.
Mine would of been lucky if it did 40, which is less then 1% of expected life.

    Cheers
