Hello all I'm Andy from London , I only came across your site the other day and have always wanted to get into the laser side of lighting , (a friend in the early nineties had an air cooled laser physics and a home built beam table and occasionally our paths would cross whilst doing the same events, So recently I was toying with the idea of purchasing a laser, I looked at what was available and found this not yours ( I have to admit cheese bay)web site advertising lasers at what seemed decent performance for a relative price , putting my bid in £3500 for a five watt RGB, feeling smug as I was prepared to go higher,I found your site , Horror struck as I realised , the company you were panning was the same one as I was going to purchase from , One desperate call to my business partner and I realised I had made a mistake , I immediately went to heavebay and was in the process of looking for a way to retract my bid , when the auction in front of my eye's went crazy and someone three days before the end of the auction bid the laser up over two thou on the current offer, I was over the moon , as I was out and no retracted bid , I was incredible lucky , thanks for the sound advice , and what a knowledge base , I,ve been bitten by the laser bug and understand the way forward is to self build ,, Cheers all Andy one very lucky non winner of one laserworld laser.

ok so reading these findings I am more than worried on a laser I have put a bid on ebay for..... the PL series 1.7W RGB

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Laserworld...57824941599107

speaking to the seller he has said that this was from a club no longer in action and that he has replaced all diodes to be that of the supposed original spec...... I was sceptical when I placed the bid.... now even more so, can anyone asure me that this may not be a total faliure and there may be a little hope?

    cheers

Hi Geeee..eeee.... eeeeee ( lot of eees there )

if it goes for £950 that should be quite a good deal .... if the specs listed in the auction are correct
it says that it has Cambridge 6210 galvos ... so thats worth a bit to start ..... and 640nm red
it looks to be a high end unit that they make which has a sealed optical area with seperate cooling below so its certainly worth a punt at that price

    all the best

it doesn't say that, it says:
"The super fast 50.000pps scanners already do a great job in these units. But if you need even more, you can get several scanner upgrades, like CT6210HP or CT6215HP."

confusion can happen if people don't read properly, however the LW-50k scanners can also draw ok graphics - not as good as CT but still acceptable

Ahhh sorry DzoDzo... you are correct ....

I have the LW50ks ... and they do a very good job ..... at 30k they are rock solid they are also good at quite wide angles

    all the best .... B

The description says they replaced the original lasers. I'd be asking with what brand, bought from where (ie Laserworld or elsewhere) and whether they're over driven or at factory factory ratings.

hmmm ok so the response would be go for it as at that price it is in keeping with the product...... some of the youtube footage of the animations put out by the PL series looks so grainy and well just bad for the price of product.... my 680mW running on 20kpps show better than the footage, the B boy dancing frames that come with Phoenix 4 Live in particular I had used them for the DJ between Skindred playing and came out superb however the footage of the same on youtube looks so grainy... could just be the recording or even the model?

well fingers crossed that if I do win the bid it doesn't turn out to be a let down....

I would say yes ..... but as white light says .... it depends what modules have been replaced in the unit ...
for instance has the 640nm 500mw been replaced with 660 ... then thats a downer .... but if its still a 640 thats a plus
another plus side is that this Base unit is a good place to start ... you have a Pro case with OK galvos ... and if you are prepared to spend a few quid after the purchace... the case allows room to improve and upgrade to a mean machine

as this was a high end LW projector and all is working and is outputting what the seller says...you have a good starting point for the price ... although i certainly would not pay any more

    all the best ...

thanks for the heads up and the info there... well shall see how the bidding goes, there is 7 days left so a lot could happen between now & then... but if I win the bid I will give an update upon my findings internally and testing live, fingers crossed it will not be a let down
