Any one have the calcs handy for finding the mode diameter for a given dopant level of a YAG cube? It can be for Nd:Yag as well...as long as the diameteris close...by a few um.

Koechner says you get a more TEM00 beam if you use a shorter crystal with higher dopant levels , and that adsorption of the pump increases linearly with dopant concentration. He has a note on that page that a tem00 pump profile causes a factor of 2 more thermal lensing then a flat or top hat profile, and that for optimal conversion and best tem00 mode you design the product of the level of dopant times the length of the crystal to be equal to a number between 4 and 5.
I'm looking at a digital copy of Koechner on google books, but I cant see the reference pages for that chapter, so monday or tuesday I can look it up. Ben, if you can scan it in, its section 7.71 on thermal lensing and pump density. roughly page 679 or so, depending on the edition.
