First post, looking for dac and software

Hi all.

My first post on here, been browsing and reading up on some of the threads and comments about dac's and software for a while and finding your site really helpful.

I know this has probably been posted up on here countless times, I've had a 100mw super1 green for just over a year and want to get stuck into the ilda feature so am looking to get a cheap dac and software so i could connect up via usb to my laptop. I have no experience
with progamming shows or anything so the more user friendly the better I guess.

I was looking at the nrg lasers ishow package on ebay (I know, I know!) but after reading the comments on here am starting to think its not a wise decision and am looking at the moncha lite package (which I'm starting to lean towards as its more in my price range), laserworld showeditor package or from what peeps have said on here (if I can afford it) the pangolin FB3-XE but I'm a bit tight on money for that at the moment. I've been on the pangolin site and been to their links for uk dealers but can't find anything about the FB3. But if I can't afford the FB3, which is best - how good is the moncha lite package?

It would be great if you could fill out your profile and give an approximate location. I gather from your post that you are in the UK. There are quite a few of us from the UK on here and we're scattered all over the country, so it's quite possible that there's someone near you

We also have some other great UK dealers for all things laser related, but i'll let them chime in as necessary so that I don't turn this post into a commercial.

I use the Fiesta software from KVANT, but have not had any experience with Mocha. My experience with Kvant has all been Good.

I have Pangolin LivePro and it is great, but little bit expensive. Unless you want to spend fortune right from the start, GO for Fiesta2 from Kvant. Good price/performance ratio and very user friendly and good enough for professional beam shows.
Works wireless as well.

Greetings and welcome! I am a Pango man, but if you are low on funds and really good with building electronics you could check out the sound card DAC with one of the various free software until you can afford a Pango kit. Otherwise... wait and save up a bit.

Another good option is the RIYA Multibus controller:

It can be controlled over ethernet, via USB, and has a SD slot for stand-alone playback. Have a look at HE-Laserscan it is free for single controllers and has a lot of good features included, such as a live show player.

Think I'm going to save up that bit extra and go for the pango FB3 XE kit with the LiveQuick software (anyone know what thats like to start with?) for the minute and see how I get on with that as I've had a few people on here saying it is that much better.
