    Default Pelican Cases

I got talked into one of these, and after getting it I would not even think of a regular road case again. Thought I should maybe do a review of it for all.

    Pelican 1660 case features:

    1. Guaranteed not to ever break. Even the wheels and handles are covered.

    2. Waterproof (O ring seal) and dust proof. It floats too they say, but I'm not testing that.

    3. Pressure equalizing valve built into case.

    4. Easy to customize (foam) to anything that will fit in it.

    5. Nice handles on each end and a sliding handle for rolling it.

    6. 7 tough latches for lid.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

I liked this case so much I went to Fry's and bought some more smaller ones for misc stuff and dacs. The bigger ones I could only find online, but $330 for the one in the pics shipped to my door in 4 days was a great price I thought. I went to Pelican Products, found the right case I needed and looked on Amazon and found it for a good price.

All things considered I give it a 9.5 out of 10 For me to give it a 10 it would have to levitate itself into the car each time. It's tough as hell, and when you first look at the foam and how to cut it, it looks a little intimidating. The foam is 3 layers partially cut in 1/2" squares, so measure twice, just find the right line and a sharp kitchen knife. Easy.

I use one like that for my projector only slightly thinner. It has the wheels and retractable handle too. Aren't they nice!!!

I have used these a lot when touring for smaller items, awesome but not cheap. For traveling tools or test equipment, they have a series with wheels and extendable handles that are aircraft cabin friendly.

In my last job, we used to fit ali angle on the inside edge and secure Microwave and Radio modules in rack fashion.

When I was in China last year, I got costings for clones. Unbeleivable and the cases looked almost identical.

Yeah but projectors aren't cheap either. Well worth it if you travel with your expensive gear.

    I could not agree more.

I have sometimes used them to protect equipment that is worth LESS than the case however!!!!

If I had a drink or two under my belt, I could write pages on foam densities for ideal protection based on equipment mass and volume... Your lucky I am sober.

Hehe, I just bought one of these case for my RGB yesterday
It's an Explorer Case brand though (5833.b), a competitor of Pelican, the same features and quality but a bit cheaper (made in Italy). Can't wait to receive it!

Phredy the foam and such in those pelican cases look really really good.
Even though these are ment for a laser projector.

We do use a lot of these at work for cheaper stuff and non-touring stuff, I use one for my tool box. They're light and cheap (compared to real flightcases) but we've found that they don't hold up too well when toured in trucks alongside real flightcases, they get there handles and valves broken, and sometimes the catches. They also start to look scruffy quite quickly, and the pick and pluck foam doesn't last very long.

Great for back of the car stuff though!
