The point is that Beyond will run on the existing hardware. So there's no disincentive to buy it now.
The Osborne effect (largely regarded as a myth anyway) is caused by anticipation of NEW hardware that will obsolete the current hardware for sale, leading to a drop in revenue as people wait for "version 2" to be released. This is clearly not applicable to Pangolin's products, however.
The vast majority of us who are "waiting" already own Pangolin hardware, so we're not holding off on any purchases.

this DOES apply to laptops and cell phones though...
the other problem is when a company holds back a release to shrink outdated inventory. this does not apply to pangolin because all of its products are manufactured in considerably smaller batches (compared to cell phones and laptops)

Well I know I'm not buying LivePro until I know what Beyond is going to be...
Why? LivePro will still have all the features it has now, even when Beyond comes out. If you're doing live laser shows in a DJ-type environment, then LivePro is exactly what you want, and it's available right now...
From what little I've been able to glean from various posts by Bill (and others), along with other hints from veteran Pangolin users, I believe Beyond will be focused more on the creation of laser art than the playback of said art. (Not saying that it won't affect playback, mind you, but the emphasis seems to be on a new way to create the artwork in the first place.) That's my opinion anyway, based on the little bit of information that is out there.

PS: Alec - I wasn't saying that the Osborne effect is a myth in general. I agree that it absolutely applies to things like computers, cell phones, TV's, and many other products with short life cycles. I meant that it didn't play a significant role in the failure of Osborne computer company. (There were other factors at work that had already sealed the company's fate.)
