Hey, yeah im pretty sure its dead, it was working fine for the three weeks or so that i had it before i took it up my garage on a cold evening. i didnt even have it mounted on the metal plate when i noticed it wasn't working ive still got it though!

does low temperature kill these things??? it was only about 3 or 4 degrees, so not thaaaat cold?

One thing I was wondering about the green- are you certain it is dead?
I have one of the exact same model, and found out by accident that the head's case is positively grounded. Just for kicks, you could make sure the head is isolated from all power supplies, like on a board, and try it once more.
I tried mine out on the bench when I first got it, all was well, mounted on the AL (grounded) plate, then it didn't work. I took it off the AL plate, tried it again & it worked. A little more looking, some insulation, and it was all good again.

Hmm, I don't know too much about the effects of really low temps on these- but I'm sure someone on here will be able to give us some info.
I wonder if you could disconnect the diode and take a couple power readings to see if it is possibly something in the driver. If that is the case, you could use a flexmod or die4drive (what I used on mine) and wind up with analog++ or analogue modulation as you guys put it. Once you go analog, you won't go back!

because Laserworld showeditor 2008 LOVES to crash occasionally, or jam up, or whatever quite often, despite my laptop with 2 Gig of RAM lol

    Hi TOmmm
It is not matter of laptop or RAM...
this is only because Showeditor is a "remake/clone" of another best software (He-Laserscan).
Laserscan crash much less times than Showeditor.

b.t.w....Just yesterday new version of Showeditor2009 has came out. You can download on its usual site...
    (I wont to name it..)

Anyway... nice case and cool idea you had.
Next step should be to add red and green

    Default nice

    [QUOTE=soforene;89251]Wha !?!

Go to all the trouble of making a see through case and then screw it up by scouring the insides?

Let the little orphans pressing their noses against the case to see the pretty lights take their chances is what I say. [/QUOTE\

Well if you have ever been hit in the eye direct with a laser , you would have a different opinion !! Try 7 mw from 2 feet away !!

The only stray beams will be off the dichros and these can be very easily masked without spoiling the gorgeous case. If you have any unpredicatble stray beams then something is wrong! and it shouldnt be out in public.

    The case is a gem.

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

yeah i thought they need a bit of a tweaking.. problem is there dont seem to be any instructions from spacelas about which pot is which! i was emailed a user manual... but the PCB layout is radically different from the one i have, so i'll leave it for now. i remember a thread on here not so long ago about identifying the apparent 30k set, but there wasn't a definate reply as far as i can remember

the wobbly lines are from the ripples in my pillowcase; project it onto something more solid and they're fine

(great idea i just had... a blank artists canvas thats been washed with dilute laundry solution! )

    Cheers for the compliment too

Beat me to it Rob I was just about to say that.

The problem if any will be from the red (when you fit one) as its likely the beam width will be greater than the mirror's surface area.

However, if you buy one of the new Laserwave 640nm Reds off Rob (hint, hint) with the tight beam specs, you might not have that problem.
