    Smile

    All Right!

Will be great to see you and Dee again, Fred! Also, you'll get a chance to see Aaron's new Kvant projector. (The thing is smaller than a car battery and it puts out a full watt of balanced white... Very nice!)

So what about the rest of you guys? Who else is going to make it to FLEM on May 16th? It's just 4 weeks away you know...

    Red face

Good news and bad news from New Jersey /

    Good News:
I just purchased a set of the LW-50k scan set...
It was a deal I just couln't refuse. An considering I have been running my Laser-Works 450's for almost 10 years now (Maybe 15kpps) it was starting to get embarrasing a long time ago. So hopefully in a week I will be watching my adat shows and seeing images I have never seen before.

    Bad News:
Between the red laser blowing up and needing to be replaced and these new scanners.... I just used up this years budjet for laser related purchases. When I called my wife from work to ask her if I could ake this deal.... you know that "Are you serious?!) silence response. Yeah... I got that :/ But my wife being as awesome as she is knew how much I needed these and let me loose on the purchase.

So moral of the story.... I am pumped and crushed at the same time.
    I hope you guys understand

I really want to meet you all in person someday. You all seem like such cool people.

    Someday

No problem Sean, I think we can all relate to the times when cash is tight.

Might want to start sweet-talking your wife now though, so that she'll feel better about your attending SELEM this summer. (Weekend of August 15th and 16th, in Newton NC...) That one will be closer to you (within driving distance, maybe?), and if you bring her along she can either have fun with the rest of the group in the auditorium, or take the car and head into downtown Charlotte (less than an hour away) for some serious shopping...

You keep suggesting this. Is it because your better half is not attending? Mine doesn't need any more reasons to spend the money I am no longer allowed to spend!

My wife will not be attending...

However, for those that will be bringing their better half with them, I thought it would be wise to suggest a few other activities for them, in the likely event that they become disinterested with the lasers...

Seriously though, you G/F might like lasers, but I'll wager that the vast majority of spouses would be more interested in a trip to one of the mega malls in Charlotte than just hanging around the auditorium watching us geek out for two days. And since people are more likely to be able to come if they can bring their significant other with them, it makes sense to have a few alternative activities lined up for them.

    Cool

Don't let that put you off George. We all joke about our wives controlling us, but it's mostly in jest. Sure, they're not into all the same things we are, but then again, I'm not into reading historical fiction romance novels or watching "Top Chef" either! Marriage is still a good gig dude. It definitely beats being single.

I'm not saying that Meridith is the one for you, but I wouldn't lend too much credence to the comments in this thread. Don't let a little tongue-in-cheek humor affect your decision one way or another... (Besides, doesn't she actually dig lasers? That's quite rare, actually... And that's a huge plus.)

Post Marriage has nothing to do with it.

And I am not, technically married... The boss and I have just been living together since... summer 1999. I only give her as much control as my Dad taught me to give. Notice the Kvant...

Then again, he might be into that sort of thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that...
