They SHOULD nominate a few moderators over there, but wont due to some legal reasons a long time ago....
no, i was out of character, I guess the meds had not kicked in or something, but there are a couple of bull baiters there that try to get your goat, well BBBBBaAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH they got it and I got banned. I respect a few there, but hells bells the rest are basically trouble makers and they are still there. I was new once and all that, I need to remember those days, and be cool. But hell, I have never been so insulted by a couple over there. I defended myself just like a tiger in a corner...it wasnt pretty.

An I dont want to drag Laser Pointer Forum DRAMA over here. It was just FYI...thats all.

Pat, there is a fundamental difference between that place and PL. Here, people are respected for what they know, and even more for the knowledge that they share. Over there, it's all about who's best buddies with whom... You can be the biggest idiot alive, and yet if you win the popularity contest you are a god.

You've spent a lifetime in the industry and have collected a great deal of information, which you have willingly shared with the group here. That makes you a valuable contributor to the forum, and you will always be respected and appreciated for that. Do you really think you'd ever be respected by the bunch of kids they've got over at LPF? Seriously?

Gus and Mophead are right... It's high school all over again. Nothing but a bunch of 12 year old, snot-nosed, myspace-dwelling *PUNKS* that wouldn't recognize a CVL if it fell on their heads. But they run the place now, and people in my generation (and yours) are actively excluded.

Eh - not to worry though.... It's their loss in my opinion. They're missing out, because they can't see beyond their little pointer jocky world. And if they don't want to listen to someone with valuable experience about what else is out there besides hopped-up pointers, then screw 'em! You know you'll always have an audience here.

actually I didnt have a problem with kids, they are fine and eagar a little snotty but Crap you should have met me when I started. (Look Up cokey in the DIctionary and you will see my picture) and I can deal with them.
It is an old boys network of exclusionary friend cliques, it is real pathetic but whatev...

These guys are older 42+ years old and know nothing about lasers and the other guy is 50 + and thinks everyone should be held up to his standards of morals and characters. So he hasnt been around long enough to realize that anyone involved in lasers "are characters". It has something to do with what the light does to the brain. I mean THAT Is obvious...JUST LOOK AT ME!!! I had a good report over there with a few and I learned alot about diodes...I have a plan B so stay tuned.

Im not bragging but damn...i feel a bit like Nostradamas. I can see where they are all going..both good and bad...it is just weird.

They gave me a test and I failed...I lost my temper, and told them what I thought.

can i just say i am a member on LPF and have been for many years. ive never had a problem to be honest, not saying everyone on there is perfect.

the attitude of a small number of people isnt necessarily the attitude of the everyone else on the forum

TBH I find it a chilly place to be, Andy is the only person to reply to any of my posts. I thought it was just because of me having 2 heads, being 40+ and English.

Never mind, I found this forum through LPF, so some good came from it.

It's pretty sad though, I moderate 2 other none related forums and can say hand on heart; they are very friendly and welcoming forums, always eager to get to know new members.

Like you say; there are some knowlegeable people over there, but they need to read up on the definition of "human" e.g. being "humane" which is; to have compassion, empathy, sympathy and the basic desire to be friendly and helpful to other humans no matter how many heads they have and no matter if they've only managed to pump 6 gigawatts out of a PHR diode before it blasted itself up it's own arse.

I visit LPF now, only to read about new diode tests.

Hey, nothing against high school kids! Can I help it that I am only 16, have hay fever (Google translation???), """""regurarly""""" (ahum) visit my Netlog account and have long hair? And what is that big thing falling from the sky, it's emitting a huge bright green ray! And now the colour changes to yellow! Must be the Fairy Godmother!!!!!

    Hey Pat....
I just read this thread.... what the H*ll... I was watching the Drama
yesterday... (haven't been there yet this morning) but it didn't look like banning
material to me... (maybe a "Please cool down" from the Admin).
I tried to stay out of it when it started getting out of hand... (on both sides) as
probably a lot of others did...IMO

Like "drlava" and "GooeyGus" stated... the Admin may not have had time to research
the complaints... but just acted on the number of them... c0ldshadow is usual pretty
    fair under normal circumstances...

GooeyGus is right.... there are few members that know the real value of a product
that you sweated over to bring to market... and seem to think they are owed your
    time and research...

I have seen members that have been banned.. have the decision reversed by
explaining their point of view to the Admin... (just an option/suggestion...)

Maybe we'll see you back there... You have some good products that the more
    educated members can appreciate...
