    Default beam profile

    So I just 'test mounted' my filters and RGV lasers, as follows:

    The final beam is white, more or less, with a bit of yellow to it due to green being a bit hot. I will someday at a 473, but for now I'm stuck with a 405.

    Anyway.. each of the lasers I have has a slightly different beam profile, and it's making the alignment tricky. Are there any tricks to improving the beam profile? One of the lasers is more oval than round (405nm, if I recall). I know I can swap the optics on that and help a bit, but are there any lenses which will help 'circularize' oval shaped beam profiles?

    What's a good method for getting clear photos of beam profiles? ND filters on the camera?

    Anamorphic prisms, masking with knife edges, cylindrical lens pairs and in rare cases with high power, , running the whole mess through a fiber.

    Somebody just posted a Melles Griot/CVI app note on anamorphics, and for the the cylindrical lenses the Newtonian collimator math works just fine.

    We need dot on the wall at a distance pics to help you.
