Themes do matter, if the Unicode support doesn't exist in the theme.

Case in point - none of the inverted text is readable today, even if I switch back to the original layout. So obviously Spec has turned something off, either intentionally to curb the enthusiasm for inverted text, or accidentally while playing around with the CSS settings.

I can still read all the inverted text... It didn't change with the new layout (for me).

Right click on the page and select unicode?

me neither, I can read it all...

if the SQL database can store unicode, then the character set IS unicode. Thats how SQL works. The html can say that its charset=ISO-8859-1 all it wants, but that does not change the fact that unicode characters exist..

    unicode looks like this
    Code:
    &# 729;&# 729;&# 729;&# 387;u&# 305;&# 647;s&# 477;&# 647
without the spaces after the # signs.

remove the spaces and add that to a post.. it says 'testing' upside down and backwards
that is converted to the character by the database and displayed by the font..

the number is like an index into a palette.

WEB FONTS like Arial and Lucida Sans etc.. are unicode fonts.

so the theme does NOT matter.. only the character set and the font..

the character set is stored in the database and if its a web safe font... then its a web safe font..

I'm at work, so I'm stuck with IE 6, and it does *NOT* work today. (But yesterday, before the theme change, it was working fine.)

I ducked into the lab for a minute and fired up Firefox on one of the laptops, and it *is* working in there. But back here in my office (IE 6) it's still broken.

EDIT: Just realized that I might have posted from the lab yesterday - which would have been running firefox - so maybe it just doesn't work on IE 6 period... Still doesn't change the fact that I can't run Firefox on my machine in my office though (damn IT folks rule the network with an iron fist).

I would, but I value my job too much to try it. (And yeah, I know how to get around the locked-down desktop, I just don't want to attract any attention.) They are really anal about that sort of thing (Loosers...)

At home it's a completely different story. I've run Chrome, Opera, Firefox, and a few others over the years. Still sticking with firefox for the moment though.
