Perhaps it might be worth running a cleaning run on your machine in case there is any crap in the system that needs flushing out?

You are right, the smoke is not brown. The first few puffs were, but the main smoke from the fluid (not the element burning off the factory oil) is a bluey-white.

    FYI -

I can't access it from my current location, but I believe the Froggy's web site includes a tutorial on cleaning fog machines:

Can anyone confirm success with using a vinegar solution to clean your fogger? I thought rumor had it, that vinegar was bad for the pump...

    Cool

I've run a dilute solution of distilled water and vinegar through my Antari without any problems. I think it was around 10 parts water to 1 part vinegar.

I only did this once though, because the stink it makes is completely unbearable. I had the damn thing outside, and even so I couldn't stand it. I ran the pump for maybe 1 minute before shutting it off and draining it. Then I re-filled it with more distilled water and flushed everything out. Took a long time to get the stench out though!

Now I just make sure to use my fogger at least once every couple months and I'm fine. Also, I've had *very* good results with "Froggy's Swamp Juice". Yeah, I know it's more expensive, but it *does* hang in the air longer than the Martin Pro-Haze Premium fluid I was using, so I figure it's worth it...

Any mild acid would do, lemon concentrate would probably smell better.

i've used vinegar and water before. stunk like shit.

you can also pee in it for a speedy evacuation of any premises...

i set a smoke machine on fire once. i didn't mean it. it wasn't working, so i used a lighter to see what the problem was (was in the middle of a club at peaktime). the lighter lit the years and years of caked up dust and fluid and god knows what else up pretty quickly.

    was pretty funny.

I was shiting myself, coz it looked to me like the fluid caught fire, and i thought it was going to explode or something at the time. didn't think smoke fluid was flammable... but yeah.

I realised at once that the smoke fluid is pants. It has hardly any density and actually "smells like smoke" (not good). When I bought my last smoke machine, the smoke was thick and white and had that classic smell and look to it.

Can anyone recommend a decent brand of fluid please? One that puts out that thick dense white smoke (that kind that used to be used at youth club discos back in the '90's)

    Thanks,

that's strange ... that's the fluid I use, and it works perfectly. It smells like normal smoke machine smoke any time I use it. Maybe your smoke machine doesn't like it
