    Thumbs up from the ashes

    Well the biggest thing right now is I have a show at the end of may so im kinda panicing right now!!! But if every thing goes well I have my new laser ready by then!! But in the time line I have going on right now I think im just going to replace the diodes with the same duel setup that was there..... Then down the road rip everything out and rebuild it with highend CT lasers!! And some new galvos!!! But the bright side of all this I now have a GBA Green-Blue-Aqua Laser, that thanks to Pangolin looks really cool!!!!!!
    Is this common for laserworld reds to do that?

    Smile Sorry man...

    Hi Matt;

    Failure of direct injection reds is not uncommon, but it's usually due to back reflection. I don't think that applies in your case though. Still, it sucks that you've got to go through this. (And here we have yet another example of why it's a bad idea to buy a LaserWorld projector... Sorry it had to be you pal.)

    Regarding your show in May... Don't sweat it. If you can't get your reds repaired by then and you don't have your new box ready, then give me a ring and I'll hook you up. I've got a spare pair of Maxyz modules here that are part of a larger project that is currently on-hold. So you're welcome to borrow them for your show if you need them.

    Exclamation

    from what ive been able to figure out its the glass! Its reflects way too much!!! and when it does its dead on with the lasers!!
    ANYONE running a laserworld RS RGB 500 mw.
    Check your glass!! And I would not change your scan angle, a small angle reflects the laser off the glass, then to the galovs, and right back to the lasers. My PBS cube lights up like crazy!!!!

    Sounds like you might want to replace that aperture window with some AR-coated glass. Or better yet, pick up a skylight filter for a camera lens. They're cheaper, and they are also AR-coated. There were a couple threads here talking about them a while back... Here's one of them.

    Hiya Matt,

    Sorry to hear about your reds going bad like that... LaserWorld is hereby from now on referred to as TrashWorld! Although, for the sake of search result availability, make sure you stick both in the post

    Send me a PM if you're interested in some replacement diodes/reds. I could perhaps fix your reds if you're interested I'd like to see what LaserWorld (over)drives their diodes to.

    With regards to the aperture window, the real shame is it's hard to see something affordable and readily available that has good specs for the BluRays. The CDAR glass is excellent (thanx Jon)! But even that takes a bit off the top of the 405, a considerable bit.

    In either case, when you get the new projector all done, this one will only be for parts and as a backup

    Thanks Adam! I think with the laserworld,im just going to leve it be.....for now....hehe!! But I will use the best AR glass I can find with the new rig!!

    As for the laserworld,I have plans for its blue and green lasers,as far as using the same reds,im going to gut it one day and rebuild it the way I want it,Its got a really nice case,But when it blow the reds, the thought of how it would look throw a scope crossed my mind!!!
    I wonder what it would look like with a 4 watt green in it? Hmm...
