RGV / Green hybrid

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to control an GRV projector with, say, 100mW of red and bluray, and a larger green such as 200-300mW so that software can use full green power for beams but lower the power when projecting graphics without having to change the settings each time?

You can do this numerous ways, but the best way would be software as you indicated. I believe most software has colour balancing features. Which DAC/software are you using?

As things said, it really depends on which software package you're using. If using Pangolin's QM2K, you can specify which frame uses the high power palette or fully balance palette. In Show Time, you can specify that any frame in a particular track to use either high power or fully balanced palette. Easy stuff!

I have the FB3 at the moment, does this offer the same palette selection for individual frames or, set a palette depending on projection zone?

Its packed away at the moment and I have not set up the software on my computer so cant play with it myself yet.

you could do this with hardware too.
dual modulate the green.
connect the second green modulation to 'I'
put a pot on the main green modulation line to lower the max level

im not the guy to draw up the circuit, DrLava is the guy for that. but its possible.

LiveQUICK supports projection zone settings AND individual cue intensity settings, so yep, you can do the same thing in the software - not QUITE to depth that you can with the QM2000, but still very useful!!

Maybe the easiest would be a brightness knob for each colour on the back of the laser?

Short of getting a qm2000, I'm not sure there is a elegant solution..

hm... im really rather for setting a new standard in rgv projectors... using the "I" channel for bluray too. = if you projecting a graphic show on a screen, you drive the 405nm lower to get a blue through flourescense. and at beamshows you drive it harder to match up with the other lasers and adding a bit green to make blue!

I would buy less green and try to get a wee bit of blue and go for 4 colors. Then you really need a controller for a fourth color channel like the QM2000. I am not sure what other controllers have a fourth, fifth, or sixth color channel besides a QM2000, but this will be the easiest way to add 405 to an projector and really get a good color pallette.
