I always let my meter settle for a half hour before I zero it, and another 5 minutes after the initial zero to make sure I'm good to go.

Make sure the room is sealed off so drafts dont effect your readings.

If measuring over long periods, especially with air-cooled gas lasers, dont forget that your laser is heating the room and you'll need to re-zero every couple hours, depending on how much heat is being cranked out. For my HeCd I re-zero every hour and a half or so if I'm really looking for accurate readings. If you're just going for ballpark readings this isn't really necessary.

I think all this stuff was discussed in the past...it really dosnt matter how long you let it settle, air cool it, de draft it or face it towards Mecca...if it hasnt been callibrated recently to a known traceable instrument it is still just a guess

rezero = every 10-20 minutes. rezero = anodized AL block at room temp in front of the sensor, or sensor facing off the table/ AL block in drafty labs with lots of heat or people.

Why not just block the laser beam under test far away from TH head. This should increase actual laser power measurement accuracy
