The 88 usually requires something like 30 amps at 230v to operate correctly. Be carefull you dont overload your power sockets.

hmm the power isnt going down it stays at arround 240 volts.
the screwdriver was just so dark i didnt see it correct.

i have tested some more starts.
i get a blue start flash in the tube

    i measured some values:

when i turn on all the stuff everything seems fine,
after switching on hv enable it should charge the capacitors and give me 15 volts on status pin 22 wich it doesnt do.

if i go on with enable HV button i get the 15 volts on the status pin 22
also the green led in the recefier section gos on

if i hit the start trigger button after that the voltage on 22 changes a lot.
    the green led stays on

but sometimes it justs goes of while triggering and the red led goes on

    somebody a idea??

btw i dont get any errors or foults from the status pins

That's correct for a linear supply, but not so true for one of these oem switchers.

All you will need is a 20A socket.. IIRC 25A tube current equates to about 17-18A from the wall..

The 10 turn pot, what setting have you set when starting the tube? We usually turn it 2.5 to 3 turns from zero when starting the tube - this works out to about 8-10A

    hi,

the setting of the pot is on 3 turns.
and the scanned piece of paper is the one i follow for starting it up already (i got that with the laser).

i have done some more meshurments.

on the psu is 320 volts DC over the two ends while HV enablle and HV on off are both ON

while the green led is on i get 0 volt on pin 15.
when the red led turns on i get 15 volt on pin 15

i get 15 volts on the capacitor charge status pin when i turn on the hv on off button and the enable button

btw, i am correct that you only give the startrelais a really short pulse ?
or do you have to hold it for some while (how long)

btw at the end of the scanned paper it says as in the picture.

    what picture

One, disconnect ignitor relay so you do not blow your meter!, how much Dc voltage from one side of cathode transformer to Anode?

    BE CAREFUL, lethal voltages involved!!!!

Tube is 165V +/- 3V when new at test current, which I believe for a Zeiss head is 25A for short periods of time, like 30 seconds max. I can look that up when I get home. So you need to be at least 40-80V above that to light.

Cathode should be 3.2 vAC plasma off.

magnet at 160-180 volts DC ?

Are the caps properly charging in the ignitor ? careful, may be as much as 600V?

well i get arround 300 volts when i meashure directly between cathode and anode at the powersupply.
one of the papers i have sais that it does arround 300 volts if there is no load.

my heating transformer does a nice 3.2 volts AC

the magnet transformer a nice 168 volts dc

where can i find the capacitors your talking of and where is the best place to meashure ?
