Thats a PC EDO its pulsed, 30 seconds of short bursts then cools down, 30 seconds of short bursts, then cools down. I do not have pics, but I have a friend who works on them and I know them quite well.

The tube pressure is NOT set for running for more then a minute or two of continuous wave. Its set low for maximum power , and as the tube heats up power falls off and the tube starts to rapidly cook. Its a small switcher power supply and usually a water to air heat exchanger.

IT WILL NOT CW!! IT WILL NOT RUN CW !!

S$#t !! Im getting something like it. I was told by a laser tech that it would go cw and get around 3 watts. Im not completely sure if the front button panel looks like that. but it s a very similar model. Im hoping its like the HGM 5 . Do you know which one it might be ??? Thanks Steve !

There is a older model about 15% bigger then that that will do 250-500 CW when new, 3.5 watts pulsed, Its a PC series, but only a few were made. I've only seen it once. Much deeper case and has bigger holes for fans on the back. Its tube does not have the closed loop liquid cooling, its more like a model 5 but a shorter tube.

    Cool

I have one similar to the one in your picture sitting in my garage. It doesn't work (tube up to air), but I'm pretty sure mine is a krypton, not an argon. (Green only optics, water cooled.) They did make them in both variations...

Like Steve said - nearly all of the EDO units are basically useless for show applications. You want the HGM5 instead. That will give you 7 lovely argon lines, all off a single 30 amp, 220 volt drier outlet. (I've got two of them - one with a good tube.)

If you upgrade the cooling you *can* get 3 watts total out of it, but I really wouldn't suggest it. Better to run it at about a watt or less, where it will last for a very long time.

Note that the PSU will also light a Lexel 85/88, so even if the HGM5 has a bad tube, you can still put that PSU to good use.
