Hi photon-people!
Do we have some sort of dictionary in here? With all the weird words from our world and appropriate explanations?
Cheers.

Do you work for MOD or what?
How do you know he owns a Scooter?
No.
I have a whole book of "technical terms" like those. I will try and find it this evening.
See if you can work out these-
CTD (calcium trace display) =
GMI (gelogical morphing instrument) =
PSD (polarised solar disruptor) =
HI (hedonic icon) =
KPPS (often just K) = KillaPoints per second
Galvo = Scanning Galvanometer
PBS = polorized beam splitter

I just want to say that I think it is pretty sad that except for "keeperx" (and maybe QUAZAR) nobody gives a normal answer...
There are many abbreviations used in the laser world, and I think that the topic starter asks a very valid question.
Since I am also new to this all I can only contribute in this thread with a link to Sam's Laser FAQ: http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/lasersam.htm I hope the topic starter can find some explanations on that site...
