    Default PaCoLEM AFTERBURN Thread-

Quick thread to start for pics or convo topics...I for one am going to bed.

The cobra yag produced 45 watts at 34 amps after not being fired up in over 4 years so when we were all "in the path" laser was operating threshold CW at only 500mw. We were very careful. Except when we were flaming 2 x 4's.

A special thanks goes out to Bridge for his generous gifts of beautiful PBS cubes and to Bill and the crew at Pangolin for the excellent swag- T-shirts & mouse pads.

We worked on a bunch of lasers - I for one supplied a 50watt KTP Cobra YAG and a 168 Krypton that only put out 750mw of red (ok daguin, you can stop making fun of me now... he had a couple of pointers that would do that much power...almost...conversion efficiency speaking...) And my aircolled argon that kept blowing breakers.

But no doubt about it...The new Laserman532 Darklight Series stole the show...NOT!!!!!

thanks all Gary from Clovis, Adam Sugeek, Dave Daguin, Jason GooeyGus and his lovely PATIENT assistant...and the man of the hour - Josh (my buddy that supplied the building, the three phase and the water, and two & 1/2 trailer loads of MY CRAP...and just an all around great guy to HANDLE EVERYTHING!!!

Pictures: http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...hp?albumid=108 - sorry they are so large, and not rotated in a few cases... Yes we did pop a balloon but we used a knife!

    Enjoy!

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

    Default Danger...not laser pictures

Well while we were loading out PaCoLEM this morning (sunday am) My son which most of you met last night, (he was the one with the big time HD video camera) Was being rushed off Mt. Bachelor Mountain (he was snowboarding on the last day of the season) Well, he fell and a young woman ran over his arm severing two tendons and almost sliced off his right hand.

Warning Graphic Pictures- Dont look now if you dont want to see.

We have to take him in for surgery tomorrow to attempt to save movement in his hand.

    CAUTION...Snowboards are very sharp.

Now back to some laser pictures -

I didnt mean to hijack my own thread, PM me if you want but sorry, lets keep this PaCoLEM related...My fault, but I wanted to let the guys know who met him last night. He will be fine. I could have started a new thread, may be we can move that post somehow under disgusting injuries or somehting.

It seems life is insecure and it goes out of it's way sometimes to prove how random it is.

Sorry to hear about the injury. There seem to be a number of reckless people mixed in on any given day at ski-slopes when I go. Heck, I've even perpetrated some close-calls in my day.
