Bill,
Can you put a video version up for those unfortunate Pangolinless individuals?

"Pangolinless"
Now there's a new word!!

Sure can! I used Pangolin's video output feature and converted to movie format. (mov)
You can see it here.

Bill,
THANKS! These are fun little shows![]()
Greetings,
I'm going to pull this thread back up because I've been busy with our planetarium laser projector the last few weeks. We're currently "closed" as far as shows go, until mid-October. I decided to check the CT scanners adjustments because we were getting "squashed" images - abstract and graphics. They would start scanning - then.."squash", they become a squiggley tangled mess, then jump back to normal when the next image appeared. I knew something was not right. Put up the ILDA test pattern and a few other test patterns and sure enough, all was not right.
On top of that, we could only scan reliably between 12-15k, when we should be scanning at 20. (30k scanners.) After HOURS of standing on a ladder in the dark with a thin flat head screwdriver and changing test patterns, I got those suckers scanning properly.
We're now scanning reliably at a little over 20k for point and vector stuff and I thought the abstracts looked better around 14k, so Pangolin is all set. While I was up there, I did some tweaking of the RGB AOMs and changed our lumia to cover a larger area of the dome (without the filter I previously posted about).
For those in the NJ area (warning, shameless plug here...), our new season starts on Sat. Oct. 10 with sky and laser shows. We're unveiling our brand new "Laser Coldplay" that night at 8 pm. Details at www.raritanval.edu/planetarium .
I'm going to see if I can share one of the modules from the show on here.
Note that if anyone from the forum wants to come to any of the upcoming shows, I can extend a ticket discount. Email me through the forum with the date/show you plan to come to and I'll get info back to you.

Ive been working on some shows for the miami museum of science, same idea graphics/abstracts....
how long are your shows? ours are generally around 40-60mins...
I have a 45min radiohead show i did about a year ago that i was going to share here, just need to tweak it since it was my first show and it has some issues... just havent really had the time/motivation in the last year or so since my life kinda went to hell and back lol
but im back now so ive been working on it again
Same for RVCC Planetarium. Typically our "family" shows during the day are around 40 mins. The evening "older level" shows are 50 mins-1 hr. They're usually 1 artist, but I've been experimenting with variety shows and they're fairly popular. Shhh, don't tell, but we're planning on a once-a-month variety show this winter where each show will be different. I'm planning on using songs that haven't been used or are currently in any running shows. I've created many song modules that just didn't get into a show, so they're just sitting there. This show will bring them out. Also, there's shows we haven't run in a long time, so I can pull songs from those shows.
We were talking about a Radiohead show and I actually made one song - "You", which wound up in our variety show "Light Waves 2" this past July/August. We're also planning our scary halloween show "Fright Light 2009" and doing a "scarier" version for the evening since Halloween is on a Saturday this year.

ya we do 4 shows the first friday of the month, the first is a "kid friendly" show then 3 other shows that rotate...
ex. http://www.miamisci.org/www/planetarium_laser_shows.php
they are also starting to do a daily "friendly" variety (think it was like 4/5 songs) show that was basically a short version of a long show i put together for another event
Greetings all!
I'm digging up this old thread again because in the past few months, there's been some changes with our projector at RVCC Planetarium. Some of you already know about this - because we had some early problems and this forum (mainly the chat room) was a lifesaver! Our old Cambridge scanners finally got to the point that age was showing itself. The mirrors actually became almost "see through" and the bearings were so worn in the Y axis that we kept blowing that tiny pico fuse. So we opted to get new scanners and went with DT40 Pros. (Mainly because we needed them fast and the budget only allowed us to get those.) In the future, when the budget allows, we'll either get the Cambridge scanners repaired or replaced - or possibly go with the new Pangolin Saturn series. (Going to wait for the user reviews and any "modifications" Pangolin does after the first wave starts being used.) Also, as part of that process of changing scanners, I did a thorough cleaning (mostly dust) in the case. So with the new mirrors (that actually reflect now!) and the cleaning of all the other mirrors, our brightness has gone up about 40%. I couldn't believe how much the Cambridge mirror silvering had deteriorated. Anyway, we're brighter and scanning reliably at about 27K. (Mixed graphics and patterns, point, vector and raster.)
We just had back on Feb. 1, our first "Night of Lasers" where we ran 4 laser shows in a row starting at 7 pm. The next one is Friday, March 1, 2013. The schedule is 7pm "Laser Coldplay", 8:15pm "Laser U2", 9:30pm "Pink Floyd: The Wall" and 10:45pm "Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon". Admission is $7 for 1 show, $12 for 2 shows, $16 for 3 shows and $20 for all 4 shows that night. *If anyone from this forum is interested and lets me know, I can arrange an extra $1 off admission.
The planetarium is located in central NJ at Raritan Valley Community College, in Somerset county. Details and directions are at http://www.raritanval.edu/planetarium
If you're coming and call and make reservations, drop me a private note on this forum and let me know. Tell me what name your reservations are under and I'll arrange the extra discount. (Sometimes the people who take reservations forget about any promotions or extra deals, so if I know, I will take care of it. )
Happy lasing!

Hey Bill,
I'm going to try and make the shows on March 1st. No need to worry about a discounted ticket though..
