make your own. WARNING, fumes highly toxic and or debilitating. Go to the hardware store, get a sheet of 1/8th acrylic window replacement stuff. Cut it into desired disk with hole for shaft.

Get outside in a light wind, and I do mean have some wind. This gives off flourenes and chlorines.
Take a propane torch and lightly pass the hottest tip portion of the flame over the plastic. If you do it correctly you get millions of little tiny bubbles that create a lumia. It takes a LOT of gentle light passes. If you do it correctly the plastic is not burned nor is there obvious melting. With practice you can control the angle of the lumia and the plastic does not have a burnt smell. DO not hurry, this takes a lot of time, and a decent amount of propane.

This is not always as good as glass as it is operator skill dependent. But showerglass is a fun one to find.

    Default Recent Lumia Find....

I've spend a fair amount of time in glass/stained glass shops with a laser pointer - many of the patterns produce mediocre effects, so don't be surprised if there's little difference between sheets or the effects are fuzzy/ill defined. It pays to keep a laser pointer in the car, as many on the forum have pointed out before. If you do want a good lumia effect and will be ordering glass, "granite" and "ice" sheets from a stained glass supplier should give you some nice effects.

My current avatar is from a rotating piece of granite glass, in front of a stationary piece of granite glass, which provides a very "wispy" effect. These are the same glass wheels I've sent out to members on the forum before.

NOTE: Watch out for tempered glass - cutting boards, shower glass, etc., as unless you have a glass saw, this stuff cannot be cut!

Check out sample sets from glass companies: http://www.bullseyeglass.com/product...s-updates.html

I should pay their store a visit one of these days with a laser pen.
