    Cool PL-Wide Invitation and 'Discount'...

    Hey Kats -

Sorry I have been so 'AWOL' from PL - just literally been working 18-20 hr days since, like, MAY but anyhoo, just a few 'updates' from 'LaserMecca'

While we're still working hard to get more and more people aware-of / into the shows, here (you may have heard about a few 'local-distractions' - Michael Jackson's death the bloody DAY of our grand opening, the 'shyteconomy', 100K acres on-fire, here, etc, etc...) everyone that does come to the shows, really seem-to-be 'going home happy' - even with the 'old classics' (Beatles / Floyd / Zeppelin, for-now...) that you'd think people would 'tire' of, we still get wild cheers every show - we've even had a few nice 'reviews' here and there, too...

About.com..., nice pix, lady!... print ad... (not sure what the 'Childrens' pre-school' has to do with us, but OK..., bring 'em down, sure...

...Anyhoo, the deal-is, we NEED MORE BUTTS IN SEATS, so: #1, You are hereby ALL Invited to be my personal Guests, to see your choice (or all 3, if you like) of any Laserium show, and then, on your next, subsequent visit, you and your Guest(s) can get a 20% 'PL-Member Discount'.

Now, I know, there is nothing about a 'discount' on the site (which, is hideous, I know - - it was 'outsourced' and it is just awful - we hope to be able to 'fix' it soon...) but if you PM-me or email me with who you are (on PL and in real-life) and when you'll be coming / who-with, etc, I'll make sure you get the 'hook-up' (especially for your first visit..) -

As-for our 'international' friends / those that can't COME to Cali, etc, well, I have something 'special' planned, that - as long as it works, technically - should prove to-be a real treat for all... unfortunately, it won't / can't be as good as 'being here, live', but hey, 'condoms still sell like hotcakes, the world-over', if you get my meaning...

We will love to hear your (as-laserists / people that produce shows / see lots of shows, etc) feedback on our performances, and how we can 'make them better', cause we want-to! - ie: right now, we are restoring the 'Mothership' of all Laserium Projectors, that will be able to produce the 'ultimate'-class of Laserium-show, - and we're already kickin' photon-butt with the 'Laserium-Lite' projector that is currently in the Vine...

...Our next-up shows are due-to-be 'U2' and 'Nine Inch Nails' (why U2 and NIN? cause those two are the 'closest' to being able to be performed NOW via our 'new / updated' method of show-production (vs the 'original' / Griffith'way) and because they ROCK - the 'NIN' show blew me away (and I've seen a lot of laser shows in 16+ years...

...Anyhoo, ya'll lemme know... ...Looking forward to seeing you here...
    ciao

belgium is sure far away, so I wouldn't have the opportunity to get there and see what you manage to do with NIN, but HELL you made me WANT to see that!

when I'm looking at your pictures, it's the same feeling than looking at the guts of an expensive setup or seeing a big argon working for the first time, simply thrilling!

keep that work man! but please don't die of overwork before you've finished

It's great to see someone still carrying this torch with passion. I too will go if I'm ever in the area. Keep it up!

    Hey Jon,

I saw the new show a couple of weekends ago! I was visiting LA and Bob @ HoloSpectra suggested I check it out so I took my date and a couple of her friends. Everyone loved it I particularly liked the old school analog style abstracts. I wish I'd had time to corner the laserists and ask what they use to produce the show. As for constructive criticism, I have 2 thoughts - more blue (I'm spoiled by DPSS projectors with loads of 473nm blue) and get a liquor license so I can drink a beer while enjoying the show

We saw the DSoM show. I'll come back when you have the U2 show going

Cali Native right here. I went to Laserium about 2 years ago when it was in Van Nuys. I had heard that it was going to be moved to the "Spruce Goose" dome in Long Beach, Did those plans get called off?

Can't we just have CALEM at Laserium?

D U D E - What?!! And you didn't come up to the booth to see me (ONE of the 'laserists') / say wassup??!! ...I feel so unimportant, now.. - then again, I guess you DID have your hands full - what, with 3 GIRLS and all you fiend...

Yeah, #2 point is spot-on...we're workin on it, but it's tough cause of the seats-thing, and as-to more Blue, also agree, but, for reasons I don't have time to explain, the migration to solid-state for a Laserium projector will be a real serious 'paradigm shift' - hint: CONVERGENCE (not DIvergence) vs diffraction / distortion - it will require a huge amount of changes to all shows - that is, unless we find a spare $150K laying around to build a 7-line OPSL system... - just can't do it with 3, or even 5 lines... this is one case where 'gas is still king'...

Right on - the Zep show is pretty good, too, but the NIN show (even if you're not a NINivite ) is killer - the energy and variety of fx is just... dang amazing...

...well, kit - and CALL ME next time you're down, OK????

Well, let's just say that between the management of the QM / Dome not being able to get thier guano together to save their life, and, well, probably a $3-4 MIL-investment in renovations / cleaning / gear to fill the place like we wanted to, it's sort of on the 'back burner' right now... like, the back of the moon...

Well, due to the 3Ø and water (though it is closed-loop, so it's really just more 'juice'...) and 3 vid projectors, 5 PCs, surround-sound, lights and A/C for the giant space, it does cost quite a few quid to fire it all up - I'd have to see what our costs are to run just one night, and see if it was 'feasible' -

I am sure, at some point, we'll have enough 'cushion' to have one 'on the house', but for now, I'll have to see... I guess if we got 50+ laserists / guests @ like, $25. / each it might be OK - have'ta see...

If we did NOT run all our stuff (but just used the space) I am sure it would be a lot cheaper, but I am not sure what the point would be - not using the killer sound system and suffering in the heat (no A/C, etc) - and - NOT seeing the Laserium shows? ..umm,

But hey, like I said - call me up - PM-me your number, and plan to come up as a Guest - it will be worth fighting the 405, I promise...

    peace..

you might just make a promo video out of your NIN show and distribute it to all the geeks in the world, that'd easily get you a bunch of new spectators

and about the blue, why not a broadband-coated cube to add another whitelight system with same specs?
