HAHA! Yeah, we moved kinda fast on this one, didn't we? Gonna be a lot of fun though - I promise!

Do you think you'll be able to join us for the "pre-FLEM" dinner party? (Hint: we usually sneak back the venue for some laser action after dinner, so you don't want to miss it!)
I'm there for sure. I hope my new projector is done by then so I don't look like a total goof showing up with my laser pointers and spiro projector.
Awesome dude... And don't sweat it about the pointers and spiro projector. We all started there my man. And besides, pointers can be cool, so long as we keep them out of the flight path of aircraft! (You should see the video of DocJohn at the FLEM we had in March... The guy is a riot! Give him a few pointers and some loud music and the man is his own self-contained light show! Definitely one of the highlights of the event!)

I figure we'll have at least 4, and possibly as many as 7 full color RGB systems there. Plus a few other interesting lasers, including a pair of HGM5 argons and a copper vapor laser!

Sorry to hear that you can't make it Randy. But yeah, work comes first. Just so you don't welsch out on us for SELEM!

Well, actually I've had a second one for about a year now. But the second one has a dead tube. I picked it up for 100 bucks, mostly so that I'd have a spare power supply. (How can you go wrong for $100, right?) But this is not the laser that I was referring to. Someone ELSE just picked up an HGM5!

Clever girl! You're right Cat... It was Mo. He should be receiving it later this week. And he got a really good deal on it. We're hoping that it's gas intact when it arrives. If so, then we should be able to get it working in time for FLEM.

I should be able to make the Pre-FLEM. I'm not that far away.

I'm far from getting started in the hobby. I built my first projector at 16 and worked as a Laser Tech for 10 Yrs. Two years ago I sold my main projector I used in a small laser show business I had. It had an American 60X Argon & HeNe combo, NEOS PCAOM modulated, G-120 scanners, Turbo track Amp, Universal Geometric Corrector, Lumia, Machita, and 8 Beam pick offs.

I got tired of re-gassing the 60X and "got out of it". By the way this is like crack once you on it you take it to the grave. A year ago a friend came across a video on You Tube of a Blue Ray pointer and asked me if it was real or a hoax. I started searching and stumbled across LaserPointerForum. After reading a while I was hooked again and decided to build a BR pointer. My coworkers were impressed and all wanted one. I think I sold 8 or 10 now. By the way they are all laser engineers and are well aware of the safety requirements. After that I started building high powered Long open can red pointers. This gave me an idea to build a 7 color white pointer. Now I'm building my new RGV projector. Sorry for the length of this post. I just wanted to give a little back ground.

By the way I will bring the white pointer with me and any other cool toys I can think of. I also make my own Rum and will bring some if anyone wants to try.

No - you misunderstood what I meant... You made it sound like we wouldn't be interested in the pointer or the spiro projector. When I said "we all started there", I meant that we all can enjoy even the simplest projectors. (Which is why DocJohn's impromptu rave-style laser show which he put on with nothing more than a bunch of pointers was still one of the high points of FLEM ver. 5) I didn't mean to imply that you were inexperienced. (Your avatar picture pretty much disproves that!)

Oh - and no need to apologize for a long post. More information is good!

Now, about this home made rum of yours... Tell me more! We usually have a liter or two of Captian Morgan's in the freezer for these events (right Aaron? ), but I don't think I've ever tasted home made rum before. (I've brewed my own beer, and even my own hard apple cider, but I don't have a still, so spirits are out of the question.)

    No problem
I really just wanted to brag a little.

    RUM

A famous Pirate once said "But why is the rum gone?"
I got tired of saying that and paying the rediculous prices for good rum AKA Captain Morgan so I decided to give home brew a try. There is a definate learning curve, but once you get it boy look out.
My current batch straight out of the still 196 proof thats only 2% off of pure. Of corse you don't drink it that way. I delute it to 100 proof and spice to give it that Captain taste with a twist. When I'm done it's good for sipping or mixing. You will have to let me know what you think. I may have to bring some to SELEM too.
