    Default FS:Machined aluminum handheld hosts

Hello. I know PL is more into bigger lasers and not so much small handhelds, But i thought i would post this on here just in case anyone is interested.

I had ten of these made. sadly, the machinist did not remember that i wanted the fins changed to be the same diameter as the body, so they are still smaller, I also want to get the grooves cut deeper....and i'll have to wait for feedback to find out what else to change.

These ended up costing me $30 each to have them made, after installing the switch, batteries and postage, it leaves barely, if any profit on my end....

I'm going to try to find some way to get the cost on them down so they can be cheaper in the future......assuming anyone buys them.
Anyways, I got 10 of these hosts ready.

Comes with 2 rechargeable CR2 batteries.
Clicky switch recessed into the tail cap.
Made to fix an entire Aixiz module and 2xCR2 batteries
Will also fit an entire green module and 1xCR2 battery

    Specs:
diameter for insertion of module 12mm
    diameter at fins 19mm
    body diameter 22mm
overall body length 4 and 1/8 inch (105mm)
inside battery compartment (without switch) 69mm
    module compartment length 30mm

these are rough measurement taken with a tape measure... If you absolutely need precise measurements i can get the blue prints from my machinist.

Price is $40 shipped in the USA.
add $10 for Intl. shipping. This is for priority flat rate envelope 7-10 day shipping.

As far as the trust issue, hopefully someone on here knows me from the "other" forum and can vouch for my character and honesty.

I'm looking for ways to change some aspects of the design to make them easier to make, thus making them cheaper.
The next "batch" will no longer have grooves going down the length of the body, but rings cut into the handle in which rubber O-rings will be placed into.

If you'd like one, go ahead and send me a PM so i can make sure they are available when you want to buy one.

    Cool

Weren't you the guy on LPF that got the take-down letter from the CDRH?

What ever happened with that? (Not being a dick - genuinely curious...)

yup that was me. Needless to say i stopped selling lasers.....
an fda agent did eventually show up at my house trying to pawn off a fake search warrant to get into my house......eventually he was let in (once a sheriff's deputy arrive after he blocked the drive-way and refused to let us leave) and was taken on a tour of the house to see that i was not producing any lasers.

Oh Really....... "an FDA agent" trying to "pawn off" a "fake search warrant" eventually he was let in once a "sheriffs deputy arrive" and "blocked" and "refused to let us leave"

yeah those guys do that all the time, gang together using fake documents "the man trying to keep the little guy down" I cant stand that.

Those sheriffs are all on the take, abusing their power, enforcing non existent laws. Once they find some one who is innocent of any crime that they want to abuse there's no stopping them. I just cant stand that.

consider yourself lucky, you didnt just dodge a bullet, you dodged a briefcase nuke.

    Question space for the driver

It's not clear to me the size of the space between the back of the module and the batteries. What is the diameter of that space and the length? What holds the module in? Do you use the whole module or just the front part that has the diode in it?

the sheriff was fine, we called them when he blocked us in....i work for the ambulance so i know all the police personally.

i don't have the exact measurements i'd have to call my machinist and ask.
it's made to fit the ENTIRE module, and is held in place by one 6-32x1/8 set screw

it basicly comes ready for a module to be inserted

    Question

Was that all they wanted? For you to stop selling? Is it over then?
an fda agent did eventually show up at my house trying to pawn off a fake search warrant to get into my house.
How did you know it was a fake search warrant? I was under the impression that the FDA had jurisdiction in all 50 states, so I'm curious as to what made the warrant "fake"...
eventually he was let in (once a sheriff's deputy arrive after he blocked the drive-way and refused to let us leave)
Ahhh... Did you voluntarily allow him into your home, or did the deputy sheriff verify that the search warrant was indeed valid? Basically what I'm curious about is, did you agree to let him search your home, or did you not have any choice in the matter once the sheriff showed up?
was taken on a tour of the house to see that i was not producing any lasers.
Hmmm. I would think that it would be difficult to prove that one way or another. I mean, most laser hobbyists have a few spare drivers laying around, and they also have a couple diodes in a drawer with some housings, right? I certainly do anyway, despite the fact that I haven't touched them in months...

Were they looking for signs that you were actively building lasers (such as half-finished units on a workbench or something), or did they actually expect to verify that you didn't even have the components to build a laser anymore?

yeah I'm curious too. Federal agents don't need fake warrants... They have real ones...
