Yes past tense indeed. But the future holds some mighty bright beams.

I will have the actuators available shortly and you will be able to make your own beam tables at a very reasonable price.

If someone would start selling 12X24 1/4 thick optical breadboards at a reasonable price we will be all set the ones sold by the research distributors are what make this whole deal difficult very pricey. $260.00 and up. I recently got lucky and purchased a 3/4 inch thick one yeahhh itsss heavyyy!!! for $175.00 from Junktronix Thank You!

Neet! but, keep in mind, "Kvant" is also Rrrrrussian for "quantum", among other-things (..several Cities in Russia / the former USSR, a science-mag, a greenhouse-experiment on the 'Mir', a spacecraft / missle-design firm, a TV-manufacturer, a brand of portable wifi-hotspot routers, and, probably at least -one- of the following: 'Russian-cosmonaut' teddy-bear and/or other action-figure and/or Tonka-truck set, a toothpaste, jello, hair-gel, 'glow in the dark' condoms.. So, don't think this is "the Kvant", the beloved Slovakian PJ-maker, etc..

    mmuhler,

looking great. i'm eager to see it in action. instead of doing full breadboard, what about using 1/4" cast tooling plate and doing drilling/tapping on demand?

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

    Hi
Yes that works as well in fact that's what I was going to do but when I found the breadboard for a good price I decided to use it for the top and use a 1/2" aluminum plate on the bottom "drill on demand" as you say, There is a lot less drilling down there three lasers color combining and Beam up mm1 plus electronics. I do not have a big enough drill press to drill the bottom plate but I do have drill guide that keeps the holes strait when hand drilling that will be fun I am sure.

The main reason for building this is to show the actuators in action and of course it will be nice to have a beam table again. I used to have one that was made by RM engineering in Toronto Canada. LMJichael Roberts design. My former Partner still has it and as far as I know is still making money with it,

A couple SP 171 mixed gas lasers - only ever used for research. Pick up only from Sacramento, CA.

    Really only $650?

    Couple thoughts:

#1 - the only thing capable of producing '45 Watts' from these lasers is the Danger sticker.. That's the 'thoretical-maximum', even 30 Watts of Argon, only, would be a really-good head / optics.. Ar/Kr, I've only known the '171 Wizard', Sir Bohan, to get more than 15-16W out of 'em..

#2 - Curious, that they felt the need to 'kipe' our listing-text - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=190363802066

#3 - Too-bad they could not at least show a 'neon-sign-tester glow-shot' in the bell, to show that it's 'gas-intact', at least, let-alone show it lasing... These things don't even make very-good -boat-anchors-, if up to air....

    RE: $650. yes, that's almost reason-enough to *cry* ...

Thx fer the link, tho.. always happy to look at a 'real laser'..

    Thanks Jon,

I suppose the numerous giant frame gas heads on ebay are usually nothing more than fancy neon tubes.

At least now I've learned how to spot an ebay miracle.

So then the question remains: Do you believe in miracles?
