Default Quantum gem 532nm laser on ebay

Not sure if this will be of interest to anyone here but I thought
I would mention this in case anyone wants a good deal on a new (Factory refurbished) 500mw + High quality
laser. The lasers are on a three day listing on ebay ---just search quantum gem 532 laser.
I purchased one of these lasers from the seller and I am very happy with this purchase.
The one I have came with 2.4 total hours on it and included a factory test results printout showing it meets spec for a new laser.
mine will output a steady 550mw or more and has nice <1mm beam with (Claimed) .9mr divergence.
Sam's laser faq has plenty of information on these lasers.--- Unlike the oem lasers he is most familiar with, these lasers
have firmware that will allow them to be powered up without being tethered to a rs232 port after setting the startup parameter with your computer.
Note that you would have to do a little surgery (See Sam's laser faq) before it can be used in a laser projector.
The price you may win this for is way below what these lasers would normally go for.

Before bidding, do read up on these on Sam's laser faq to know all about what you are looking at.

    Note
Do not mistake these for the used one's for sale for $449.00! I went through three of these and never got one that would output anything for more than
a couple minutes. All had bad diode or doubler tec's

This has probably already been posted before but I am too lazy to search. 1.5mm dia. 1.5mrad..... gotta be DPSS. Not too keen on the price but that color would certainly be interesting.

Standard 594nm laser, those have been on ebay for quite some time.

and yes, it is of course DPSS

There is nothing "standard" about it. It's a frequency-summation laser, and the physics going on inside the cavity will make your brain hurt.

Yes, they have been available for a long time, but they are not your "standard" DPSS laser by any means. (Even though they do use DPSS technology)

Did you ever put it in the freezer?

If you do, you may see some very interesting behavior that demonstrates a little bit of the quantum magic that goes on inside the cavity of a frequency-summation laser.

We did this at a FLEM a couple years ago when Mo (Daedal) showed up with his 594 nm pointer. When you cool the KTP down, it loses it's ability to sum the wavelengths inside the cavity effectively. So when you bring it out from the freezer, when you first power it on it will be producing a red beam. Then, as it warms up, it will switch to a green beam (as the KTP heats up, the efficiency for doubling the 1064 line increases). Finally, as it nears room temperature, the non-linear characteristics of the KTP kick-in, and it will sum the IR frequencies (actually it outputs the DIFFERENCE between them, so it's a negative summation, if you will), and you get the lovely yellow at 594 nm.

    Pretty damned freaky....

I had an Amiga once. Wasted on me though, I had no real clue how to get the best out of it. At the time I knew a bit of Basic on a ZX Spectrum, but no more.
