suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Looks like something I would build. I have a huge collection of meters like that. I love the old HV/electrical stuff. Mad scientist lab and all that rot...

Was he serious about it being 80KW!!! At that power why didn't the paper he shone it on burst into flames? I did think 'Steam Punk' when I saw it!

Because the pulse is no more than 40ns long. Even sorter if the tube is higher pressure. The pulse duration at 1atm is about 0.5ps. The higher the pressure, the shorter the time the N2 can remain excited.

There's a bit more to it than that, I'll have to look at my references for the exact wording.

Old lasers are hard to find, and those from the Soviet Union even harder. Kudos to Soulfest for hangin' back on this one. Five other bidders. If it's the last from that source, I owe you a great deal on something else.

Here's a 1970s vintage GTE Sylvania model 948 sealed tube CO2 laser head with a twist. It was last refurbished by me personally in December 1985 as documented on the spec sheet (that I designed, typed and copied) attached to the top. There's a label on the side for Line Lite Lasers, the company started by the small group working on those old lasers headed by Jack Evans. This line of scientific CO2 lasers went from Sylvania, to GTE Sylvania, to Spectra-Physics, and finally to Line Lite. The double arrow logo was also my design. I just doodle arrows.
