..Ya, and besides that, that's a 'Star-C head' supply, with a much, much older Spectrum head.. it appears that they've gone to the painstaking trouble to 'hot-rod' the Umbilical (??) for that supply, which.. would *not* be an easy thing to 'undo'.. And, actually, now that I think about it deeper, IIRC, there were even a couple interface-cards up in the C-heads, that would *not* be in a Spectrum, so.. Unless they also hot-rodded those in there, even if the Remote was included, w/o those cards to give proper-feedback to the supply, ya ain't gonna get much more than 'Error codes'..![]()
Also, for sure, in the older Spectrum heads, the starter was up in the head, in those nice little cylindrical 'starter-modules', but in the 'C's, I believe (iirc..) they were down in the supply, so.. It would be a real chore to re-wire that head to work with it's 'native' supply...
'Bout the only thing I can see this cheapy-auction being good for (assuming the tube is still gas-intact..) was If it was an Ar/Kr tube / optics, it'd be good kit for someone that needed a 'tube-job'..Oh, and those C-supplies are great-little 'surplus goldmines' for: A really-nice All-Brass Proteus (Briggsy should know about that..
and a bunch of nice fuses / AC/DC bridges, SCRs, pan-head screws, key-sw, etc, etc.. See? I'm still really a 'hobbiest at heart'..
..just some 'food for thought' for anyone thinking 'cheap killer Ion! cheap killer Ion!'This would be - at the very-least - a major headache-project, unless they did, indeed, 'account' / mod for all those differences 'tween the Spectrum and the Star-C.. Or, ya, unless it's a Photoshop-job...

Re the I70/Spectrum C:
As Jon says, nice pile of parts, Its at best a good set of white light optics, unless you hook the tube to say a Lexel or a classic RED 170 supply, which means much rewiring. Even on the sealed version of those tubes, the optics are just held in with a Indium foil seal, so the optics can be recovered. If it has the prism on the rear, like most Spectrums, it will be dual Brewster, which means no killing the tube just for the optics. The PSU is a paperweight or boat anchor, good for some NICE parts.
