well, yes.. you could buy this plate off of ebay for 400$, or you could buy a brand new one from Thorlabs for 160$

or you could hit the surplus laser dealers. the last 12x12 i bought was about 80$, but you should be able to find them for ~100$ without too much effort.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
Some cute, small, and green photocoagulators:

Some Googling says they are 1.5W lasers, probably DPSS.
Looks like flashlamp to me, resonator is visible in the pics.
The resonators are pretty cool, but worthless, I just sold a new one for $100 on ebay. It has a Kigre head, a TEC cooled KTP and adjustable mirrors, but other than that, worthless, power supply may be fun though.
CLICKY!!!

Here's a classic He-Ne that makes a great shelf display. The grey paint says late '60s but the connector says '70s to me. Check out the metal bellows! I have one and in a display case with the cover off and it really has an "old" look to it. Price seems reasonable for the rarity, and I'd be taking it if I didn't already have one. Laserman532 might have some original "S" badges to replace those missing on it (ever find them, Pat?).

If you want to build some giant laser of doom this rod is just what you need: http://cgi.ebay.com/LARGE-Laser-rod-...#ht_602wt_1141
Apparently they're surplus from the Shiva laser.
i think this is so huge because it is built for flash lamp pumping and not for diode pumping
class IV for sure at this size, but diodes could do much better. anyway, not for the faint hearted this project is
