    Good find!

However, no use to me in the UK as you need have a "key reset" (as opposed to twist) - not sure about the states.

    Cheers,

you need have a "key reset"
Could you explain this in more detail? I always understood the 'twist to unlock' type of mechanism on an emergency stop was perfectly adequate, although maybe not on a big power tool!

It depends on how you are using the E-stop....

One common practise in the UK is to use a key to release e-stop button to double as the projectors key switch rather then having a separate key, but this is not required.

    Regards, Dan.

YEA.. but your find is less than half that price--better FIND-

is this type compliant to USA rules. Or is the key type needed?

PS a EEKbay search will show lowest price of $4.99 USD free shipping from HongKong.

You may "get what you pay for"....

I've had one of these emergency switches break in shipping, as the potted metal components aren't very robust.

The key release type are nice, but I don't believe that they are legal in the US for an "all in one", as the key is removeable to allow for the switch to operate.

I'm using "idec" brand (IDEC IZUMI), not cheap, but nice quality and I wouldn't want a broken switch to shut down a show....

    Default good advice

Thanks Greg- its often wiser to go with quality stuff and be done with it.

To save a few$$ and have a show stop midway would be a nightmare.

Here is a seller of IDEC on fleaBay-- this is a real nice one- but for 6$ less you can get on that is not illuminated.. IDEC IZUMI

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Idec-AVLN32211DN...item4cf10bc60c

    ships from N C USA
    33$ or make offer

also there a few IDECs offered at less including some that are ' make offers'

    heres another

    IDEC IZUMI
for 27$ shipped from WI usa( or make offer)

    http://cgi.ebay.com/IDEC-E-Stop-HW1E...item27b7f60157

I have never found a seller offering 'make offer' that would not acceprt SOME kind of lower offer.. so why pay BIN ever.

    hope this has been helpful

I have my emergency stop button set up so that it cuts the mains power to the projector. Not a problem with solid-state lasers, but you would probably need a different arrangement if you're using a gas laser, as you wouldn't want to suddenly stop any cooling.
