Here's a very neat looking old laser for a very good price. I already have one so am passing this on. Anyone interested in a a vintage laser shelf gnome should be happy with this one. It really looks like it's from the '60s!

    Hey all,
    I found this:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/260948457840...84.m1439.l2649

I bought this laser! X-Laser Skywriter RGY 300mw
I've also gotten in contact with X-Laser about getting it calibrated and transferring the ownership. I've been watching this forum for some time now. Nice to post something. Hope this was a good buy. I'm debating if Pangolin will look good with it. I'm so new to all this. 15k scanners work ok for scrolling text? As I understand it the slower scanners may have problems with texty stuff unless its scrolling. I hate to ask too many questions on here because the lingo is so far out there. So I'll just keep searching.

FYI I used to own a 500mw Laserworld CS-RGBV. I think this X-Laser will be better and make me feel much better about the legality. X-Laser was $682 shipped. I think its a good deal.

Thanks all. I think I did ok on this unit and the seller has been super cool.

Well I wouldn't use scanners slower than 30k for text. Even at 30k the flicker can be a bit irritating when the words are across the projection area. I don't think the scrolling improves this, it just means you can have more text go past. In fact it may make the flicker worse because of the constant movement.

great info thx! What scanners would you recommend? Incidentally...I'll probably send it to X-Laser to take care of it...but just curious what you think. Thanks for the reply!

On a budget, I'd use DT40 scanners. If not on a budget and quality is important, then Cambridge Technology CT6800HP or faster CT6215 up to 60k, or any of the Eye Magic scanners 30k or faster.
