I found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/1000mW-RGB-F.../221230277457?. I used to have a Chinese 650mW laser that I would mess around with in the house as a hobby. Sold it about a year ago and would like to get back into it without breaking the bank. Any input? Looks like a decent piece to me. 30k scanners, sd slot etc. Or any other recommendations for something around $500-600? Not going to be used outside of the home...

it's ttl, so you're limited to 7 colors, and there's no way to adjust for white balance
the scanned graphics in the auction look horrible.. there's no way those are 30k scanners.
there's no way it's got corrective optics on the red and blue diodes so your divergence is going to be horrible.

personally, i would avoid it like the plague.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

I'd have to agree with you the video looks horrible. The video is of a 360mW with 20k scanners though. But judging by the quality of the graphics alone, not just the movement, it might be fair to say this is junk. And I understand i'd be limited with ttl, but I'm not in a position to spend much more than $500 and would like to just get back into it for personal enjoyment. Gotta start somewhere...
